So...there was never any explanation for why Hulk wouldn't come out during Infinity War?

Seemed like that was a major question that spawned a lot of discussion, a number of theories, plenty of articles, Youtube videos, etc and then nothing? Did I miss something?

An explanation I heard was that it boiled down to Hulk being a bit of a boring character that could wear thin pretty quick with the audience, and the directors didn't want that to happen. Because Hulk smash, and that's pretty much all Hulk does. And because of that, Hulk can only smash so much, apparently.
With it not having been addressed, it seems like that might just have been the case, but...again, maybe I missed something?

After a year of speculation, I was really hoping to find out what that was all about!
