(Spoilers) question on 2014 timeline

So, I watched the movie opening night, but was still thinking on the alternate timelines. I wanted to ask this on twitter, but decided on asking here (i don’t know if it was asked on there and I don’t know if the Russo brothers would respond if i did).
Seeing as The Russo brothers confirmed that Loki created a new/branched timeline, does that mean the 2014 timeline is branched as well?
I mean: That version(2014) of Thanos, his army, and Black Order are dead (including that version’s Nebula.) And that version’s Gamora has disappeared after the battle.

I’m sorry if this was already asked. It’s been on my mind and couldn’t let go because of the comment in the movie about how returning the stones would fix the timelines or realign them (can’t remember the exact wording).
Of course, I could have misinterpreted the whole thing, and would need to go back and watch it. Anyways, thanks in advance if anyone answers.

This doesn't sound familiar to me. In which movie did Loki create a new timeline?

It was in Endgame. It was the scene where Steve, Bruce, Tony, and Scott travelled to 2012 New York, when Loki was taking over. Bruce went to get the time stone from the Ancient One; Steve was getting the Mind Stone/Scepter from the hydra agents; Tony and Scott were trying to get the tesseract, but the brief case was knocked out of Tony’s hand by 2012 Hulk. Loki ended up with the tesseract and teleported away. What I believe happened:

By traveling to 2014, the Avengers created one alternate timeline.

Timeline 1 - the story we've been following all along

Timeline 2 - branches off from the moment when the Avengers arrive. In the new timeline, Loki escapes after the Battle of New York, Captain America is beaten by his other self, but learns Bucky isn't dead, Hydra thinks Captain America is one of theirs though the Captain America in that timeline has no idea, etc. Basically all the changes we saw happened in that new timeline.

By traveling to Morag, the other Avengers create another alternate timeline. In that one, Thanos and his entire army travel through the Quantum Realm to the main timeline (the one we've followed in the films) and never return, so in that timeline no snap ever occurs. That's the best timeline to be in, in my opinion.

The real question-- When Thanos travels through the Quantum Realm to the main timeline, has he created a new timeline? Aren't we seeing the split timeline? Since this happens after the Hulk's snap, this means there is another timeline where Thanos doesn't show up and get dusted and Iron Man lives. Right?

That is a really good question. To quote Marty McFly: "This is heavy, Doc." The only timeline I can think of is the 2014 timeline, where Iron Man would live since that Thanos is gone. But, any other timeline I don't know. That is when the whole idea of time travel and multiverse gets confusing to me, or at least how they explained it in the movie. I guess I just need to watch it again, because I could be wrong.

Regarding your statement on the other Avengers traveling to Morag, I think that is the best of the timelines as well. The only threat I can think of for that timeline is Ronan. But, I can't remember if, in Guardians of the Galaxy, he had his own army or if that was part of Thanos' army since they were allies up until Ronan possessed the power stone.

I believe you are able to travel to the future in any timeline without creating any new timelines because you are not changing anything that has already happened. So, if that is the case there is not another Timeline where Thanos does not show up.

I now recall the scene. I didn't think about it that much when I saw the movie, but this article makes the possibilities sound very interesting. Thanks for the link.

You're welcome for the link. I think so, too. I can't wait until Disney's new streaming service, so I can try and catch the show. I mean, this is a nice way of bringing back Loki, in my opinion. And the fact he is having his own show is a plus.

Actually, that is a good question. In all the mayhem, I can't remember how the Avengers get Tesarect and it that where one of the stone was? What was the point of Loki being there anyway?
