I guess it’s the old Marvel vs DC thing that has been around for decades. It’s now more mainstream due to the movies.

I'm a DC fan (all my life), but I have to admit that Marvel has done a great job. Even their weakest movies are good entertainment, and everything fits together.

DCEU has been more hit or miss. Justice League was embarrassingly bad compared to Avengers, but Batman v Superman was better than Civil War.

The one thing about BvS that was a let down to me and maybe others, was that the death of Superman was undeserved, unmourned, meaningless and felt as a non event.

Something that should have been genre shaking (knowing full well there would be a Christ-like resurrection) was devoid of any emotion.

It was soulless and empty. That made the movie as forgettable as an after thought.

Civil War shouldn't even be compared with or to BvS.

BVS like MOS fell apart in the final 3rd , most of Synders films do , Civil War IMO was a lot better

Batman v Superman, a movie widely considered a huge disappointment by most people except mainly hardcore Snyder/DCEU fans and was critically panned, better than a critically acclaimed film that’s often considered one of the best in the MCU and superhero cinema in general? Clearly that’s your - and a few others’ - opinion. (Hell no it ain’t!)

But Civil War aside (no shocker that this Marvel film became the biggest superhero film of that year), BVS was a mess of a film. It’s amusing how many of its defenders (not just Snyder fans) continue to argue that its poor reception was a result of the movie simply being too dark+ complex for audiences AND critics. LOL. (Logan says hi.) And yet, it contains one of the funniest and cringiest “dark” scenes in CBM/blockbuster history — the infamous Martha scene.

No, that movie was just poorly executed and definitely soulless. It did a great disservice to its characters. Grim tone? I guess to some that hid its style over substance-ness.

Well said. I feel the same (possibly worse) about these Snyder movies. Total mishandling of the subject matter.

Superman/Batman are my favourite of all comic characters and look what happened to them.

I think too many people are triggered in both camps. Enjoy both. It's a smorgasbord of delicious film right now. Not everything will be to your taste, but at least we have a variety for our pleasure.
