Ant-Man stepped up BIG in this movie and I loved it!

Who else found themselves cheering more than usual for Scott Lang/Ant-Man? They really utilized his character and made him a key part of the resolution in Endgame. Without him, the time travel angle would have never been considered by the team. Also his contribution in the final battle was substantial. And I honestly don't think anyone but Paul Rudd could have made this character so enjoyable on the big screen. Kudos Scott Lang! I'll forever root for team Ant-Man!

Yeah, I tend to like him better in the team up movies like Civil War and Endgame. Somehow he works better as the dark horse who grows giant when he needs to.

Hey AP, I know it's not part of this thread but what were your feelings about how Thor was portrayed? I've got mixed thoughts on that topic.

I think he redeemed himself when he went after Thanos. Considering he's going to appear in future movies, there's enough room to bring him back to the muscular badass we all know and love.

Yeah I basically agree. I was a bit put off by his unsteadiness when he and Rocket went back to Asgard. Thor was this doubting wreck who lacked any self-confidence and yes, I get why. Since it was such a far cry from the Thor in Ragnarok and Infinity War who possessed swagger despite his losses, it was a bit to mentally for me to digest.

Gotta remember, Hemsworth lobbied for the Ragnarok and Endgame versions of Thor, so we wouldn't be getting any more Thor if he hadn't gotten his way at least a little

And he's right - he adds dimension (and comedy) to the character, and shows off his range as an actor

Everyone laughs at his first appearance as fat Thor, but I "got it" right away at his reaction to "that name." He's utterly broken, and understandably so. When someone that powerful gets that messed up, it's naturally funny. But it can still pack a punch, dramatically.

I didn't realize that Hemsworth had lobbied for the Thor version in Endgame but I knew he had for Ragnarok. Gotta hand it to Hemsworth, he's remade Thor into one of the best characters in the MCU.

I absolutely loved Fat Drunk Gamer Thor! And yeah, it totally played to Hemsworth's strengths as an actor, such as they are.

He's much better with comedy than drama, and he actually managed to use comedy to show us how shattered Thor really was. Looking forward to seeing him pull himself together with a galactic road trip!

I also thought Ant Man played an outsized influence in comparison to my impression of him as a smaller scale hero within the MCU. not that I’m complaining. It’s great to see him rise to the challenge. It was refreshing.

Going in to this movie I was discussing with a friend which films were essential to watch and we both said you could probably skip the Ant-Man films. Now I would say they're essentially viewing with how big a role Scott played and how the Quantum realm was such an integral part.

Agreed. I actually think the first Ant-Man is essential as it introduces Hank Pym into the MCU and he's a big character in Marvel Comics, on the same level as Tony Stark, Reed Richards and Bruce Banner. He's one of the key scientist who's discoveries led to the creation of heros and villains. Plus the first Ant-Man is just sheer fun to watch!

Ant-Man and the Wasp was more comedic but still entertaining. It has an end credit scene that connects right into Avengers: Endgame. It's the scene where Scott gets caught in the quantum realm.

It's the second Ant Man film that was a blast to watch and which figures into the Avengers storyline, in fact it's probably mandatory viewing.

I liked that they gave this minor hero a big role, but then, they managed to give about ten actors roles that seemed major. Kudos to the writers and directors for doing a fabulous job of handling a huge cast, BTW.

Agreed! I was really happy to see War Machine and Nebula get more screen time. They have become solid characters in the MCU.

As soon as I saw that scene the first time, I said to my wife that Ant Man is going to be the key to defeating Thanos. Nice to be right sometimes 😁
