But joking aside, maybe that rat is a constant? At that point in time, that rat always does that. Or maybe the rate was not responsible for what happened. Could be that at that moment a short circuit always triggers the machine.
But I like it better if it's the rat.
Or we can go all philosophical and put the Rat (deserves capitalization) into perspective with Thanos. Thanos says, "I am Inevitable" but by pure Happenstance a rodent triggers an event that ripples across the entire universe.
Maybe eventually Scott would have gotten out of the Quantum Realm but also maybe too much real time might have passed for anyone to have done anything about it. It kind of reminds me of the common everyday cold or virus that kills the Martian Invasion in War of the Worlds.
Thanos' victory, his very destiny was snatched away by, luck, by accident or a twist of fate. Loki foretold Thanos that he would never be a God (Big G or little G, doesn't matter) and he clearly never became Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, nor All Knowing.
Oh! So many storylines can and will derivate from this movie. I can imagine right now the new Netflix show THE RAT... or it could be Disney Plus...
