about peter at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

how the hell is peter is back in high school with his old friends?

Didn't they graduate at some point in the last five years? and Shouldn't they be in college now?

or

Did they all get dusted in "the snappening" in IW?

peter's old friends and ant may should be 5 years older then him.

reply

I asked the same question in another thread.

Surely it would be too contrived for all of Peter's class to have been dusted in The Snap.

Plus, doesn't that mean Parker is going to be five years behind academically speaking?

Although ageism is officially illegal, that might hurt when he tries applying for jobs.

I know. At 14, I had to drop out of high school through no fault of my own, but despite looking younger than my actual age, I still have to explain to employers why I started college at 21 rather than at 18.

As a side point, does this mean Parker can buy beer? He may be 16, but his ID Card/Passport will give his age as 21.

reply

what was the other thread?

ageism? I don't know what that means?

reply

Peter hasn't aged a day, technically. Remember, he said he felt like he passed out on Titan and woke up with Strange telling him it's been five years.

And considering the Snap happened to half the teenagers on the planet (to say nothing of other planets), I doubt there would be a ton of issues for Peter. I'm sure many employers and educators are going to be overlooking this for decades to come.

They are ok because of the reality stone or something else. Mostly because of the plot. You can't expect coherent actions in a movie where girls can fly through space.

reply

Yeah, only films where boys can fly through space...

reply

What's the difference? (apart from their sex)

reply

That was my joke.

I'm sure you're not a sexist (unlike certain other posters on these boards), but I did find it bemusing that you specifically referred to 'a movie where girls can fly through space' rather than saying 'a movie where people can fly through space'.

Considering half of the universe got snapped, statistically, it would mean many of Peter's classmates were also snapped. I'm sure a lot of his former classmates lived and went off to college. It seems Ned, MJ, and Flash were snapped along with Peter since we see Ned in this movie and the trailers for the next Spidey movie include Flash and MJ.

reply

I don't disagree, but surely around 50% of his class avoided The Snap.

reply

It appears time flew through them.

reply

That's what I said above. A lot of his classmates moved on and a lot got snapped. I'm not sure where the confusion comes from.

reply

What confusion?

reply

The confusion that half his classmates moved on and the other half stayed behind.

reply

I don't think anyone is confused.

We're just considering the implications.

reply

the op seems to be suggesting that there's something off in members of peter's class being dusted.
all we know now is that peter & ned both got snapped, & presumably mj & flash as well, since they're in far from home.

the odds that all 4 of them would be dusted are 1/16, i believe - my stats class was a long time ago, & i may be wrong on that, so somebody please correct me if i'm mistaken.

but if that's right, then those aren't earth-shattering odds.

reply

Exactly. The OP and a few other people on this forum seem confused that Ned, Flash, and MJ are still around when the odds are not that crazy that they would have been Snapped as well.

reply

Much shorter than none of the original 6 Avengers getting dusted.

Given that we already know that Peter got dusted, there is a one in 4 chance that his two closest friends got dusted. Flash is just another member of the debate team that Homecoming happened to focus on. So I don't even think you need to factor that into the calculation.

reply

Just because 50% of the population was randomly snapped, it does not mean that by looking at any random sample of people, half of them would've been snapped

The population size we are talking about in the snap is THE WHOLE UNIVERSE, so there could theoretically be entire planets where no one was snapped and it wouldn't be that surprising

It would obviously be convenient, but it wouldn't be that impossible that all of the important characters in the Spider-Man franchise were snapped. Besides, high schools have hundreds of students. Most of the students in Parker's high school are just extras and we wouldn't notice if they aged 5 years and graduated because they played no role in the plot

There is only like around 6-7 teenage characters who are relevant to the plot. It wouldn't be too crazy to think that they got snapped.

reply

Even if they were all snapped, they couldn't just show up at school the next day like nothing happened. There's a TON of paperwork and other crap that would have to be put in order before they were re-enrolled. Hell, they'd have to double the food in the cafeteria alone. That wouldn't be in the budget.

reply

We don’t know they were in school “the next day”

There had to be time to arrange Tony’s funeral at the very least

What’s odd is Peter’s reaction to Ned and vice versa. Surely they’d know before returning to school whether they were still IN the same school (i.e., they were still the same age, having both been dusted)

reply

Wow, just imagine if they didn't think of this!!!! ( yeah, right -- and monkeys might fly out'a my butt )

I'm sure this will be answered in Far From Home, which is not far off.

Eh?

reply

I saw the movie twice....the second time I specifically looked at This scene....

I dont think it was HIgh School....

The Kids looked older...I think It was College

Or Maybe, it was high school and the schools are allowing all the kids who vanished to start back up where they left off....

remember it wasnt just Peter whos been gone for 5 years....Half of His School would have Vanished...Meaning Half of His Class would be returning 5 years later and would still be the same age, It would make sense for them to start back in school where they left off.

So basically Half of Peters High School class that was NOT Vanished is now in college or graduating college

Meanwhile The Half the were Vanished are returning the same age and Likely want to pick up where they left off in High school

Check this lol https://screenrant.com/spider-man-far-home-prequel-endgame/

Safe to say Far From Home will give us some of the answers we’re looking for.

I for one like how Endgame left a bunch of questions like this. As long as we get answers in some of the upcoming films and the MCU shows, then all should be good.
