Rumor has Avengers 4 will end With a setup for the Next Threat...

Rumor has Avengers 5 is going to be more of a Crossover film than an Avengers film....Its going to be a Film where all the characters from the MCU come together to face the new threat....

and rumor has that the new threat will be revealed or hinted at, at the end of Avengers 4.....

obviously we know Avengers 4 is going to bring The first 10 years of the MCU to a conclusion, Its extremely possible Cap, IM and Thor Will not be returning for any more MCU films....

The Rumor right now is, Marvel Studios/Kevin Fiege is deciding rather to go with Galactus or A Skrull invasion(AKA Secret Invasion)....basically They are gonna set the next Phase of films around this threat(plants seeds in each film) and have in culminate in a Crossover Avengers film...

My question is, which would you rather see? Galactus and almost certainly the Silver Surfer or A Secret Invasion....Or Something else?

Me personally, I got to go with A Secret Invasion simply because I feel A Galactic storyline is not film-able.....

The only way Galactus works is if you do him right.....and theres simply no realistic way for any of the MCU characters to fight a 28 to 1000 foot villain....

Not sure if he will be the next major antagonist threat, but Galactus is far too important and interwoven within the Marvel Universe to simply ignore due to something like his variable size. I have faith they will figure out a way, and in the end most of us will be happy with how he is portrayed on film.

For the OP question, my prediction is they will go with the Skrull Secret Invasion storyline.

You don't get much bigger than Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. Feige has said that the next phase will be smaller and more character-drawn. I assume the next phase will set up a Masters of Evil type or at least an Acts of Vengeance-style crossover.

this. I don't see how you get much bigger than Universal genocide, sure Galactus could threaten to destroy the earth but that's not on the same scale as Thanos.

reply

Yup. And by comparison,Ultron already tried to destroy the Earth. Ronan tried to blow up a different planet and Ego tried galactic genocide. Hell, Malekieth tried to turn the entire universe into darkness in Thor: Dark World. These were all villains within the individual franchises of the MCU and most of these villains were forgotten. Blowing up the planet is not that shocking for audiences anymore.

I hear they're doing a sort-of Secret Invasion in the Captain Marvel movie except it's in the 90s. That could be the reason she leaves earth, either to the Kree or Skrull empire. If that's the case then I hope they do something else with the Avengers.

I wouldn't mind seeing Galactus, but they would need to set up Fantastic Four alongside him. The problem with that is they also need FF to correctly develop the other guy, the all-time greatest Marvel villain there is, Dr. Doom.

That's a lot on the table even for the MCU.

We have to pray that's all we'll see of the Skrulls. It's bad enough they're faking us out with the deaths at the end of Infinity War. Pulling the rug out from under us telling us half these heroes we've spent a decade getting to know have been aliens the whole time is gonna send people into a rage, rightfully so.

reply

Agreed. I would hate that. It would be the MCU's equivalent of telling the audience that some of the movies were just a dream.

reply

Precisely. I hate to say it, but I would genuinely never watch another Marvel film if they do that to us.

There hasn't been enough galactic world building yet for Galactus and Silver Surfer. That should have been Guardians 3 and Adam Warlock's main objective.

reply

Presumably there are plans for the Red Skull but I'd rather see the Masters of Evil, led by Zemo.

Have The Avengers fight a team of villains instead of another intergalactic bad guy, particularly one whose motivation is as boring as Galactus.

reply

I’d be fine with either as long as they can pull it off. Galactus would be a very difficult one, I’ll give you that.

That being said, the biggest MCU movie that I can envision happening after Avengers 4/5, is a... Secret Wars storyline! One day. Hopefully. Wishful thinking perhaps. There’s been talks about the Illuminati appearing in the MCU as well.
