25 characters and counting...

Do you think they will have 25 mini stories just to explain who they are and what they are doing?

No, all of these characters are already icons.

reply

Falcon is an icon?

reply

Falcon is an icon now as in Well-Known relative to other characters within the comic-book to movie universe. More people are aware of MCU-Falcon (who is more of the Ultimate's-Falcon) than Marvel-print-Falcon.

reply

But still, with 25 icons, it will be a mess of a movie.

reply

Why? is there some written rule that says the number of characters allowed is limited to 24 and at 25 the movie becomes a mess?

reply

At 26 characters it will be a Mars Attacks movie.

reply

this is not the DCEU, you know... the MCU knows how to put more than 2 characters together without fucking a movie up.

reply

Avengers?

Avengers?

^

Yep, The Avengers , you know, that one movie that is universally recognized as one of the 2 greatest CBM of all time, that Movie that is the highest Grossing CBM of all time...The movie that literally Changed The CBM genre and Made every major studio try to copy their blue print...

remember?

reply

lol at how drama queen-ish you got. I imagine you sitting in your basement and screaming at the screen, compensating. More please.

reply

no compensating here, just speaking facts...

^ not 1 thing I said here isnt true or a fact...

also dont live it a basement, currently living with my disabled and Dying father, taking care of him and being with him.

by far the cruelest thing you said was comparing me to queen. which I completely disagree with.

if you want "more" just check my history...I'm on a personal quest to destroy queens life, so I respond to nearly every post queen makes and let queen know how pathetic his trolling is...

fYI I always get Falcon and Iron Patriot mixed up, in fact I think of Falcon as "The guy who isn't Don Cheadle". So no, they're not iconic to everyone, and I'm a huge fan of the Marvel films.

Personally, I think "Ultron" and "Civil War" had more characters than the writers and directors could handle, so stepping up the number of characters and expecting the audience to have seen enough Marvel films to be aware of all their backstories is a bad move. I hope "Infinite Wars" is good, but the odds are that it's going to be a big convoluted no-fun mess.

See if you had said Iron Patriot and War Machine you might have had a point. There is no way that Falcon could be confused with either Iron Patriot or War Machine. Really?

By what criteria do you believe that the Russos had more characters than the writers and directors could handle? Could you provide what it was that you personally felt was lacking? Too many Star Trailers on the backlot? Not enough catering?

Is it your contention that all of the characters require a backstory contained within the movie? A solid story won't require that each and every character will even need an elaborate detailing of who, what, when, where, why and how. This is true of long-form serialized story telling and yes within the pages of most comic books there was just a bit of re-cap and or a notation to **see issue x.y for detail. I'm not going to say it is a fault of this new way of making movies but yes you're going to have to know a bit about the characters, the story and the dynamics to fully engage.

Yes it will force many in the audience to do some research. No you don't HAVE to see the movie it is an individual choice. Yes it is a calculated decision on the studio that will drive additional purchases.

I'm wondering how it is that you get those two men mixed up. I mean, do you get Hawkeye and Bucky mixed up? What about Black Widow and Scarlet Witch? Probably not. Just... the only two black men on the Avengers. Hmmm.

reply

Yeah, two best friend/sidekick characters in flying Stark suits who are allowed little dialogue or personality. Who could mix them up.

reply

Falcon does not wear a Stark suit. He doesn't even have armor. And if you think they have no personalities, then you haven't been paying attention. Both men have backstories and the movies take the time to tell them.

reply

No armor?

Okay, he's not fully armored.

But really, they wear similar suits and play similar secondary roles, and are giving similarly small amounts of screen time. Neither actor is being given the chance to stand out, maybe that'll happen in "IW", but what are the odds considering the fierce competition for screen time that's going to happen with 25 major characters.

reply

Similar suits?

This is War Machine (I assume that's who you meant by Iron Patriot). It's a darker Iron Man suit with a bunch of canons and guns on it.

This is Falcon. He's not armored, his costume does not cover his head or arms, he has big red wings which he uses to fly, and he attacks with a remote-controlled drone.

Maybe YOU think they haven't had a chance to shine, but it's obvious you haven't been paying attention if you can't be bothered to remember their names or origins. Winter Soldier showed Falcon's origins in detail and the first three Iron Man movies, Age of Ultron, and Civil War gave us an entire arc for War Machine.

reply

If you can't tell a guy in cargo pants and a t-shirt, wearing a set of giant wings and wearing only a pair of goggles on his face from a guy covered head to toe in red, white, and blue Iron Man armor, you need to have your eyes examined. Or do you mean you can't tell Anthony Mackie from Don Cheadle? If that's the case, I'm afraid you're even more hopeless.

reply

Ant-Man made Falcon famous ;)

reply

That kind of stuff only works in the comics when you've been reading for several years and own hundreds, if not thousands of comics. It won't work too well in the movies, where non comic book readers have only a cursory understanding of the characters and the universes they reside in. I'm sure there are moviegoers who will be asking where Superman and Batman were during all of this, or asking things like "Why don't they just have Spawn help them?"

reply

It hasn't hurt them yet.

reply

You guys assume the casual moviegoer cares about knowing who these spadex clad heros are... For the most part, they don't, so it's no problem... 😎

As long as there is a bit of drama, loads of CGI and a few jokes, they're ready... People don't spend much thought contemplating fast food, they just order a cheeseburger and fries... 😉

For the serious comicbook enthusiasts, well, they know all there is about these characters, so it's not a problem... 😁 They'll get all the subtle nods and references that everyone else misses and will find seeing their favourite characters on screen together awe inspiring 😎

Don't worry guys... Just have fun with it... 😁

reply

Exactly. I've known people who enjoyed the Avengers and Civil War without having watched previous films. They might not know exactly who Ant-Man or Hawkeye are, but if the audience can invest in what's going on, then it's all good.

reply

Keep in mind that the characters are in groups. It would be one thing if we were following 25 individual stories, but it seems that when things kick off:

Thor, Loki, Hulk, Valkirie, Heimdall, and the Asgardians are aboard a ship headed for Earth. The Guardians of the Galaxy are likely nearby. After whatever transpires there, Thor and the Guardians are together.

The Hulk makes it to Earth, where he's with Dr. Strange, Wong, and Iron Man.

Captain America, Bucky, Falcon, and probably War Machine are in Wakanda with the Black Panther. Ant-Man may be there as well, being that he's allied with that team.

The remaining characters-- Vision, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are presumably together holding down the fort as the Avengers.

That leaves only Spider-Man, who will likely join Tony Stark as soon as the battle begins. Or, he'll be off on his own.

That's four groups that will face off against Thanos. Possibly fewer, as they may join forces, but it's not overwhelming by any stretch. It sounds like the foundation of a good story-- Thanos encounters the Asgardians, defeats them, possibly kills Loki, and leaves with an Infinity Stone. Thor is rescued by the Guardians who head to Earth. On Earth, Thanos faces Iron Man's group, possibly joined by the other Avengers. Whatever happens, happens. Act 3 takes place in Wakanda as Thanos battles the remaining group. Concise, exciting, and fun. Or it may go down in a totally different way. Regardless, Thanos battling a few groups of heroes sounds like a solid movie.

Look to Civil War for an example of how a film can have a number of characters and succeed.

isnt that what The 17 Previous MCU films were for?

Jesus, talk about a Failed attempt at trolling...

But who is going to watch all 18 MCU films to get caught up? Don't forget the first Hulk movie was so bad that they had to make another one.

lol I new you would take the bait....

I specifically set you up, Specifically said "Isnt that what the 17 Previous MCU films were for" because I absolutely 100% knew what your response who be...

see the truth is, you didnt think, You thought it would be good trolling to suggest theres too many characters for the film to be good, But the way you worded it set you up for this epic BURN...

By saying " Do you think they will have 25 mini stories just to explain who they are and what they are doing?"

you just didnt think and didnt realize the exact answer to your question is, "Thats what the 17 Previous MCU films were for"

once you read my response, you realized My Response was DEAD ON...that theres no need to explain the characters in IW because the is what The Previous MCU did...you knew you made a mistake, and HILARIOUSLY there was only 1 possible come back for my response(I knew it before you even said)...I knew you were going to come back with "Well who wants to watch 17 Previous MCU films or something like that"... to suggest audiences wont/didnt watch the 17 MCU film...

Its the only thing you could say to try and save face, Unfortunately again I was expecting this, and ONLY said my response because I had A KILLSHOT lined up for you...

I knew you were going to say "Well who wants to watch 17 Previous MCU films or something like" so I already had the PROOF lined up the LITERALLY 87% of the audience buying tickets for AIW has in fact seen ALL of the previous MCU films

http://deadline.com/2018/03/avengers-infinity-war-advance-ticket-sales-record-fandango-1202339516/

jesus talk about THE BURN of all BURNS!

I literally walked you right into this!

I knew exactly how to response to get you to response exactly I how wanted so I could Hit you with this KILLSHOT!

Do you think they will have 25 mini stories just to explain who they are and what they are doing?

^^^^

this was just not thought out, worded completely wrong, you at no point thought "wait a minute, all these characters has had solo movies or been in previous that has fleshed out their characters"

the thought never hit you until you read my post of "isnt that what the previous 17 MCU were for"

you instantly knew you screwed up, Instantly realized you all these characters had been in other movies where audiences had already became invested and familiar with thier characters...you instantly knew got BURNT!

but I knew you wouldnt give up, I knew there was only one possible response to statement, You couldnt argue anything else other than "Well who wants to watch 17 MCU films"

hilariously I already had proof that damn near 90% of the audience seeing AIW has seen all 17 MCU films

just a masterclass in destroying a Troll by Old Billbrown...

PS, give up, at this point you can only make it worse, I already know what your next reply is going to be and already have BURN waiting!(no like I'm serious, I truly know what your going to say next, and truly already have an article lined up to kill you!)

In conclusion...

Do you think they will have 25 mini stories just to explain who they are and what they are doing?

This is a gaint fai ^l, because all these characters have been featured and fleshed out in the Previous 17 MCU films and overwhelming majority of the audience that will be seeing AIW have IN FACT seen All Of The 17 MCU films

just take a minute and try and comprehend the depths in which you just failed and Heights in which I just succeeded!

I literally saw the future, walked to you into that future and then KILLED you in that Future...

trolls get burnt all the time, but its not everyday you get to literally SET A TROLL up, and the TROLL WALKS directly into you trap and says word for word what you wanted resulting in MY Master PLAN coming full circle!

Pretty impressive that they could sum up all the movies in 20 minutes.

I have to admit you are quite a talented troll yourself. I just don't have the energy anymore to do what you do.
