Rogue rumored to be the first X-men to appear in MCU, Captain Marvel 2 debut

According to Marvel Insider Mikey Sutton, and reported on by Superhero Buzz, Rogue will be one of the first X-Men characters to join the MCU. Superhero Buzz, noting Sutton’s credible past, stated:

The first X-Men fans will see in the MCU may be one of the most unexpected ones, at least to be initially introduced. Sutton has heard from several inside sources that Rogue is being developed to be a key figure in reviewing the X-Men under the intense vision of Kevin Feige. Just like her comic book debut…Rogue will appear as a villain, a member of the mutant terrorist group.

That'd be an odd way to introduce them into the MCU. I'd prefer if she fought Korvac or Adam Warlock. I'd like a teamup movie between her and Nova. But I'm not sure if he's even a factor in their upcoming slate.

MAKES SENSE...IN THE COMICS ROGUE ADDED TO HER POWERS BY ZAPPING A MARVEL...

I suppose if that happens it would have to be in the end, otherwise the rest of Marvel's performance would be of her in a coma.

Don't remember if Marvel ever came out of it, or whether she retained her powers.

I'm honestly hoping the first mutants introduced are the original five and Professor X, but I guess we'll see. It wouldn't surprise me though if Marvel changes it up. I just hope it doesn't turn into Wolverine and friends again.

Frankly I do not agree. As far as I am concerned Storm, Nightcrawler, Collossus, and Rogue are better than Ice Man or Angel. Plus even movie fans probably do not care as much about Ice Man or Angel. Plus they need to take a break from using Jean.

There's always time to build those characters in though. I don't see the MCU ending any time soon. Nightcrawler is by far my favorite of the X-men and I definitely want to see more of him at some point, but I also want them to properly represent the characters that the people who made the Fox X-men movies didn't understand, especially Cyclops.

The MCU was pretty much built on starting small and simple, which the original X-men team is. I don't disagree that some of those guys aren't as interesting as the ones you mentioned, but I'd at least like them to be established to a decent extent like all of the Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Regardless, I have faith that Marvel will fix what Fox got wrong with the X-men. Whatever they come up with, I'm all in for.

How was Rogue able to steal Captain Marvel’s powers permanently?

First, Ms Marvel never took off the way Marvel hoped it would. To be fair Marvel never really gave her a shot… she was one of the first female characters in Marvel to get her own title. For most of her run she was written by Chris Claremont, but at the same time he was writing X Men, which was his priority. Ms Marvel he seemed to do in between.

Rogue was a new character created by Claremont who had run ins with heroes in a lot of other mags, including Dazzler, Rom and Avengers. In Avenger Annual 10 she and the Brotherhood were trying to take down the Avengers one by one, and in the process Rogue ended up having prolonged contact with Danver’s skin.

Now, at the time, Rogue wasnt a fully fleshed out character. She was a villain who was an “extra” in the Brotherhood, but Claremont had many ideas for the character. But her powers werent fully conceptualized at the time. Additionally, Marvel had cancelled Ms Marvel a couple years prior and simply added her to the Avengers, but the character wasnt working well. I will say the way they had her leave the Avengers roster in issue 200 was more than mildly horrific, and continues to be an embarrassing moment in Marvel comics. Claremont bringing her back for this story and the characters response to her “team” served to highlight and drive home just why they SHOULD have been.

Claremont seems to be one of the few people able to write Danvers as a proud, strong, yet believably flawed human given the power of a goddess. I wish he was involved in her entry to the MCU… the character would have been far more relateable, and one hell of a lot better to see on screen.

MCU Theory: X-Men's Rogue Is A Captain Marvel 2 Villain

So this will be.. Rogue 2

reply

Huh? This Rogue would be different from the one Fox did. In the comics she started out as a villain working with Mystique and I wouldn't mind seeing that in the MCU.

I admit I never liked Fox's version of Rogue. She was nothing like the character from the 90s X-Men cartoon I watched as a kid in the early to mid 90s. She was too meek and scared. And unless you count the extended cut of Days of Future Past she never got to fight any bad guys.
