Nick Fury is a Joke in the MCU

I don't understand how he ever became top dog in the MCU. In the comics hes intimidating, has authority and badass. He seems to be lacking all of that and top that he always looks constipated.
SGT Fury,Peacemaker,Agent of Shield and VS Shield show how badass he is.
Its crazy how in Winter Solider he said he lost his eye to somebody he trusted who was actually a cat. In Sgt Fury he lost his eye in an explosion but he continued fighting and refused surgery so he wouldn't miss a year of combat. Also in Peacmaker hes shot in the eye.

The guy is in one movie that throws a little bit of humor at the audience and now his entire character is a joke? Not to mention that cat is a lot more than just a cat.

I think you need to relax a bit.

reply

Its not just one movie lol Like I said he looks constipated in thee movies,In the comics hes actually badass and doesn't throw humor there. He loss his eye to cat period and it was played for laughs you just said. There is nothing to relax i'm calling it like i said it

reply

He said he trusted someone and lost his eye, and they had a little fun with that one thing. You say he looks constipated because your premise that he's a joke is weak. The guy moves around perfectly fine for a 70 year old.

They made one joke. Its time to get over it.

"He said he trusted someone and lost his eye, and they had a little fun "

You admit hes a joke ok that's a start.
Also they used CGI on Fury so clearly is age is catching up .
There is nothing to get over i call out injustices

reply

Or simply the film is set in the past. Wouldn't have made sense to have him looking his current age

reply

In the past actors used make up to look younger

reply

Doesn't always work or look as good though

reply

Fury is a spy, first and foremost. He uses what he can to get information. If Fury can take advantage of the eye to get Cap to do something then he will.

reply

Wow that actually sounds badass. Too bad MCU Fury sucks ass

reply

Nick Fury is the equivalent of Batman in the Marvel universe -- the most dangerous man on the planet.

reply

In the books yes but here hes the cameo guy who gets punked by cats and always looks like has to take a dump

reply

Except that the "cat" isn't actually a cat. Fury was lucky the thing didn't kill him out of annoyance like it did to those aliens on the ship.

reply

It looks like a cat and the scene was sold for laughs

reply

Correct

reply

It was the cat, wasn't it..

the cat...

Oo

reply

What exactly does that mean "he always looks constipated"?

reply

Exactly what it means

reply

So, it means that he looks like he is having a hard time taking a dump? Well, like they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". To you, he looks like he is bound up. To me he looks like he is stressed out. Having the job of director would do that to a person, so maybe that is why he looks constipated to you. Makes sense, I guess.

reply

You had us at the "I don't understand" part.

To be fair, in the original comics, except for the case of Captain America who worked for Shield in his own comic series, Fury rarely appeared in the main comics. And if he did it was for only for like one or two pages of the comic to give the characters info on some villain they were fighting. Shield would sometimes help the Avengers fight villains but in most of the first 115 Avengers comics I read from my Avengers DVD ROM Marvel had released, Fury is not present.

Heck, Fury wasn't even in the Infinity Gauntlet event or in other iconic stories like the first time Galactus came to Earth or the original Secret Wars. That's why he's not a leading role in the MCU.

reply

He had an appearance in Infinity Gauntlet.

reply

Now thinking of it, he did but he didn't really do anything in it.

reply

Hes had spinoff comics. Even in guest appearances hes resourceful and has authority

reply

I was more saying he's a supporting character in most comics. Not that he wasn't important. So it's the same in the MCU.

reply

Fury is white.

reply

In the original universe, yes. But the MCU adapted the Ultimate Universe version of the character who they years ago in the early 2000s made to look like Samuel L. Jackson so that if there was ever a movie with him they could ask him to play him. And he did.
