Disney Caught Inflating Revenue for Years

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/disney-whistleblower-told-sec-the-company-inflated-revenue-for-years-2019-08-19

"A former Walt Disney Co. accountant says she has filed a series of whistleblower tips with the Securities and Exchange Commission alleging the company has materially overstated revenue for years.

Sandra Kuba, formerly a senior financial analyst in Disney’s DIS, -0.21% revenue-operations department who worked for the company for 18 years, alleges that employees working in the parks-and-resorts business segment systematically overstated revenue by billions of dollars by exploiting weaknesses in the company’s accounting software."

reply

Disney was caught???

The article doesn't say that.

reply

No, but Disney haters will grasp at anything to bash the company.

reply

That's a big 10-4!!

Judging by the spate of current reporting about Disney I expect more voices to be coming out of the woodwork to attempt piling on or try and create fire because they perceive they see "smoke".

reply

Disney inflating box office? With Disney monopolising Hollywood it wouldn't surprise me.

reply

The article doesn't say that either.

reply

The article says nothing about box office. This pertains to someone claiming Disney's parks and resorts are overstating their revenue.

Yes. You're right. It is stupid for this to be posted on the Captain Marvel board.

reply

Wow at the defensiveness on display here. Sooner or later when Disney have completely overrun the media they'll be immune from criticism which should please people enough.

reply

Yep, Disney sycophants only want internet echo chambers.

reply

Says the guy only replying to a fellow believer in a conspiracy you've given no evidence of. The article you posted is about revenue from parks and resorts.

Serious question. Are you trolling? Or is it some brain dysfunction issue?

reply

You whine about defensiveness when the article says nothing about "Disney inflating box office."

Its obvious you and the OP have an agenda by suggesting Disney's movies are making less money than what is reported, but you have nothing to back it up.

reply

No agenda here, nobody knows if Disney is inflating their revenue and there's no concrete evidence. But I do think it's suspicious how fast Disney is regaining traction and passing the billion dollar mark so easily. I haven't read the article, it's just observation.

reply

The MCU is more popular than the DC Universe, and Aquaman made more money than Captain Marvel.

Spider-Man's box office revenue is all Sony's.

Meanwhile Dumbo and Mary Poppins Returns only made $350 million worldwide.

Just use a little brain power, guy, before jumping on board with this crap and whining about defensiveness. Thats all I'm asking. Otherwise, it looks like an obvious agenda.

reply

Disney is becoming too powerful for some peoples liking so it's easy to be a bit knee jerky when a news item comes out about them. But you're right, I might've reacted too fast without thought.

reply

It sounds believable. The fraud has to do with Disney's parks and resorts as well stock valuation.

Disney put out misinformation about the popularity and sales of their movies several times.
