Captain Marvel - $426.3 million beats Wonder Woman - $412.5 million domestically. Highest grossing female superhero!

The last real milestone it needed and it's still has plenty of gas in the tank! Captain Marvel truly is the most popular female superhero character.

Captain Marvel - $426,011,433
Wonder Woman - $412,563,408

It was already the biggest grossing female superhero film worldwide and the also by far the most profitable. Now it's officially become the highest grossing female superhero domestically as well. What an amazing achievement!

Why do so many people think like this.

Marvel has a ton of heroes in this movie collection.
It is 2019, why are you so focused on it being a "female" superhero?
So many keep viewing everything in life through their little race/gender category and everything is viewed through that prism. Everything is judged through the lens of what race/color someone is and what sex they are.

The same thing was done when The Black Panther came out. The first all black this...the first "black" super hero. It is a 2019. Is it a "milestone" if a black person has this job or that job or is in a movie or a woman is?

Hell, Coming to America had an all black cast in 1988 staring Eddie Murphy, James Earl Jones, Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, Samuel L. Jackson, John Amos, Eriq La Salle, Frankie Faison and Madge Sinclair.

Yes 30 years after that it is a "big" deal that it is black super hero movie.

Highest grossing "FEMALE" superhero.

Ok, if you are still keeping count. Thanks for keeping track of the gender and race of every possible profession and endeavor and keeping us informed as if this matters in any way at all. I thought women have been movie leads for decades but apparently in 2019 it is still important for some reason.

Not surprising as it's a good movie vs a meh DC outing.

Captain Marvel continues to make these small incremental amounts of revenue and has moved up to #21 in the Domestic rankings. Does that mean anything? It means whatever you want it to in terms of popularity, audience awareness, future possibilities for the MCU etc.

Personally I am waiting for the Blu-Ray release to re-enjoy the movie as well as add it to my MCU collection. I recently rewatched CM's space fight scenes versus Ronan and they were quite enjoyable. Pretty stunning how she showcased her powers.

reply

Yup, in the end it wasn't that close. Captain Marvel certainly proved how popular she was with legs for days.

reply

Exactly Captain Marvel did way better than expected.

reply

But not the best, or most well liked. Literally every other female superhero is superior.

$ =/= a good movie. Usually money gets discussed when the movie sucks just like "Ghostbusters", and Oceans 8.

reply

Who gives an F? No really like you have a hard on to announce this like some sort of Cub Scout that’s trapped a badger. Both good films leave it!

No. It doesn't seem or "feels" like a low number for Marvel. Especially for a first introduction for a Character that most audiences are unfamiliar with.

6 Captain Marvel $426,429,965
7 Iron Man 3 $409,013,994
8 Captain America: Civil War $408,084,349
9 Spider-Man $403,706,375
10 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 $389,813,101
11 Spider-Man 2 $373,585,825
12 Deadpool $363,070,709
13 Spider-Man 3 $336,530,303
14 Spider-Man: Homecoming $334,201,140
15 Guardians of the Galaxy $333,176,600
16 Deadpool 2 $318,491,426
17 Iron Man $318,412,101
18 Thor: Ragnarok $315,058,289
19 Iron Man 2 $312,433,331
20 The Amazing Spider-Man $262,030,663

Are you perhaps "Trolling"? It sure "feels" like you are. πŸ±β€πŸš€

reply

no but I heard Disney bought out Movie Theaters and Captain Marvel played to empty and almost empty theaters and they just wanted to beat Wonder Woman's box office and I also heard that The Avenger movies play in a higher number of theaters than a normal Marvel Movie and they treated Captain Marvel Like it was an Avenger's movie

reply

Word of advice....

Don't believe everything that you hear.

You've moved from "feels" regarding the size and amount of CM's box office being small for a Marvel film over into "conspiracy" theories regarding CM and Disney. Those two things have nothing to do with each other.

Doubling down on Trolling isn't a good look for you or anyone for that matter.

reply

oh i'm not trolling

reply

Well at least YOU don't think so.

I bought CM on Tuesday. I watched it and I enjoyed it more the second viiewing.
