GO SEE A DOCTOR!!?!

Is it typical to have a nice leisurely dinner or do the dishes after severely injuring your eye? Was it odd to anyone else that he did not go see a doctor asap. I know he didn't, because that eye would have been bandaged. (The government has excellent health insurance)

That whole eye thing was botched from every angle.

I concur.

This is why women don't usually direct MCU movies.

If you’re Nick Fury, then obviously it is typical. And I am certain Fury tried to make it seem like this wasn’t a big deal (I got the impression he didn’t want to accept that he was seriously injured by Goose) and probably refused to see a doctor. I thought that was apparent.

So all these years we believed/expected Fury lost his eye because of a major event that happened... yet as it turns out it was nothing more than a MotherFlerken betrayal! I honestly wasn’t underwhelmed by what happened. While I can understand the disappointment of some fans, truth be told I always imagined Fury’s eye loss could’ve been something minor all along (I was prepared for it), so when Goose scratched it I unapologetically laughed — as I did on my second and third viewings.

On that note...

“I’m trusting you not to eat me.”

Like this outcome or not, damn I appreciated that callback (or foreshadowing) to The Winter Soldier. Takes the seriousness and impact of TWS away? Well, for me it made this revelation better.

I don't think they could have done it any better. If they went the epic battle or betrayal route, nothing could have lived up to the expectations of the audience. Instead, having it be an unexpected slash from a heretofore friendly alien cat, in a calm moment no less, gives it both humor and irony, and acts as the perfect counterpoint to the Fury characterization. The toughest guy in the MCU, the biggest badass, the boss of all bosses, the man who knows everything and then some-- the signature injury that is his defining trait came at the paws of a kitty cat. Meow that's something else!

Exactly.

Yeah, I don't understand why he didn't at least slap a bandage on it at dinner.

Also, there are a lot of people in this thread who do not understand the topic.

Fury - It's just a scratch

Talos and others - gravely and knowingly shake their head "no"

My impression was it being a FLERKEN scratch and not an actual CAT scratch, there was no way it wasn't going to develop into a major physical issue.

So yeah, he probably saw a doctor off-camera who treated it like a cat scratch. Which was fruitless considering the source wasn't terrestrial feline, but extra-terrestrial Flerken.
