If you’re Nick Fury, then obviously it is typical. And I am certain Fury tried to make it seem like this wasn’t a big deal (I got the impression he didn’t want to accept that he was seriously injured by Goose) and probably refused to see a doctor. I thought that was apparent.
That whole eye thing was botched from every angle.
So all these years we believed/expected Fury lost his eye because of a major event that happened... yet as it turns out it was nothing more than a MotherFlerken betrayal! I honestly wasn’t underwhelmed by what happened. While I can understand the disappointment of some fans, truth be told I always imagined Fury’s eye loss could’ve been something minor all along (I was prepared for it), so when Goose scratched it I unapologetically laughed — as I did on my second and third viewings.
On that note...
“I’m
trusting you not to eat me.”
Like this outcome or not, damn I appreciated that callback (or foreshadowing) to The Winter Soldier. Takes the seriousness and impact of TWS away? Well, for me it made this revelation better.
