Better than Wonder Woman

I thought her suit was fire... perhaps the best suit yet (except for iron man which isn't fair).
The final boss fight for WW completely tanked the movie for me.

Here the miscue of making the fight in the ship comedic rather than dramatic was bad but they had time to recover (The music they chose just jarred me)

I can't argue with that from my male POV. Carol Danvers is about to embark on a solid Hero mission and the music they picked for that scene dulls the rising arc of the moment. It didn't feel comedic to me just a bit too perky and upbeat.

I guess the directors were going for the humanness and the cockiness of Captain Marvel with that song playing across the fight scene based on how Carol felt it. The soundtrack of her life at that moment was tied to the song for a particular audience and maybe they connected to it.

Thor Ragnarok had a similar scene that resonated with a particular audience familiar with the song.

Better at being worse, if only. Wonder Woman was a strong character, not just strong, period. Captain Marvel was a character whose sole purpose is defined by how powerful she is. Not to mention, the terrible pacing of the movie. Leave out-of-order flashbacks to Nolan, MCU. You can't do that right, it appears.

I disagree, although not by much. "CM" was as fun movie and the final fight was a blast, but the final fight in n "WW" was heartbreaking rather than fun. "WW" had a lot of enjoyable scenes, but what made it really good was that it actually succeeded in touching my cold black cynical heart.

"CM" delivered $12 worth of fun, but I suspect that I won't care much about it in a month.

That’s a YES from me. But to be frank, although I far prefer CM (performances, tone, settings, structure, score+soundtrack) and find WW’s last act completely unremarkable, I think the two films are probably about equal overall.

Also, with Captain Marvel I don’t see eye to eye with the “it’s just ok” crowd. I’ve seen the film a few times and it has only gotten better for me each time. I’m fond of what they did with it and certainly thought it delivered $20 bucks (IMAX, baby!) worth of awesomeness. You bet I’m excited to see Carol Danvers lead the MCU going forward! (LOVE the arguably jarring use of “Just a Girl” btw.)

On a side note, putting aside the meaningless but inevitable comparisons between CM & WW, it’s fantastic to see the two awesome actresses that play these mighty superheroes support each other.

BETTER!

I was bitterly disappointed with Wonder Woman. No more than an average film in my book. I really don't see what the critics saw in that one.

Captain Marvel on the other hand was solidly entertaining. I agree on the music choice for the big fight - poor choice, way too literal. That was the only cringe-worthy point in the movie though and the rest of the music selection was fine to excellent.

Yeah this better than wonder woman. If you like watching boring lifeless protagonist with no character development shoot shit out of there fist. Then yeah its great. Wonder Woman was mediocre. But its better than this shit. At least Wonder Woman had something called a Character Ark. Look it up.

They are so different in what they achieve. I think overall WW is the better crafted film where the only part it drops the ball is the very end fight with Ares. CM's first two acts aren't as good but the end of the third made me feel happier leaving the theater. In fact I felt the exact same way about WW as I did Black Panther. Two very well built up stories that ended rather generically. CM managed to float in between those two things throughout its entirety. It wasn't built up as well but it wasn't as generic. Overall BP and WW are superior movies but CM felt better leaving the theater and the ride home.

My CM thoughts are exactly on par with your opinion.

Thank you for that kind reply. I'm glad you agree.
