Its becoming extremely hard to Rank the MCU films

I just finally saw Captain Marvel...I liked it, IMO Its an above average MCU films...

came home, was going to update my MCU rankings and man, with 21 films now its becoming extremely hard....

The Middle of the pack is so hard to rank, theres 6 or 7 MCU films that easily stand as the best that are at the top and then theres 3 or 4 at the bottom that are weaker, But theres 8 or 10 in the middle that are all average to above average that are extremely hard to pick and rank...

Here are My rankings, but really the MCU films between 8 and 16 could be in any different order...they are all so close in quality, Its extremely hard to rank them

3. The Avengers Infinity War-9/10
4. Captain America:Civil War-9/10
5. Guardians Of The Galaxy--9/10
6. Thor 3: Ragnarok-8.5/10

8. Doctor Strange--8.5/10
9. Spider-Man: Homecoming-7.5/10
10. Captain Marvel-8/10
11. Ant-Man--8/10
12. Black Panther-8/10
13. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2-8/10
14. The Avengers Age Of Ultron--7/10
15. Ant-Man And The Wasp-8.5/10
16. Captain America The First Avengers--8/10
17. Iron Man 2--7.5/10
18. Iron Man 3--6.5/10
19. Iron Man--9/10
20. Thor The Dark Word--7/10
21. The Incredible Hulk--7/10

do you even bother ranking them anymore?

I think you have Thor a little bit too high and Iron Man way too low. But other than that I agree.

I absolutely agree...

Usually when I make my ranking after ranking Thor, I always put (I know I'm in the minority here but I loved Thor 1)

and I always Note, While IM1 is not 1 of my favorite MCU films, Its one of the best...

If I were Making A list Of "IMO The best MCU films" IM1 would be ranked #2

if you'll notice, even though IM1 is ranked #19...Its still got a HIGH rating of 9/10....thats because I consider it a truly great, But just not one of my favorites or an MCU that I really can watch over and over again...

I dont consider movies like Ant-Man 2, GOTG2 or even Black Panther in The same league as IM1 in Quality...but I enjoy watching those films more than IM1

as for Thor, for me Its one of the most underrated CBMs of all time...but again I completely acknowledge I'm in the minority...Most consider it average ...

I think along the same lines. I can't really say "movie A is better than movie B" in most cases with the MCU, so instead I group them into 4 categories. Within the categories, they aren't in any sort of order.

Your ranking system looks weird, why don't the x/10 ratings line up with the movie positions in the list of 21? For example, you have Iron Man at position 19 with a rating of 9/10 and several other movies (Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, etc.) with lower ratings higher up in the list.

Its because This list is "My favorite MCU films"

and While I consider IM1 one of the best MCU films in quality...Its not one of my favorites to watch...

If I were Making A list Of "IMO The best MCU films" IM1 would be ranked #2

Basically I do not consider movies like Ant-Man 2, GOTG2 or even Black Panther in The same league as IM1 in Quality...but I enjoy watching those films more than IM1...

I can watch IM1 Maybe once every 3 years and enjoy it....I can watch The MCU films from 1 to 15 maybe 2 or 3 times a year and enjoy them every time...

I know which ones I consider the very finest of the MCU or would just put in my top 10 (e.g. all the Russo brother films, The Avengers, Doctor Strange, Ant Man, Guardians 1, now Captain Marvel — CM bland and uninspiring? Far from it to me), but all in all I no longer bother to rank all of ‘em. (Well, maybe I would for fun.) I do like a bunch of them equally.

Btw, to me Thor 1 & The First Avenger have always been two of the most criminally underrated comic (not just Marvel) films ever.

Great question. My answer is: not really, no. That is to say that I don't (or can't) rank them individually, so instead I place them in three categories:

1. Outstanding (9/10, 10/10): Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man

2. Excellent (8/10): Everything not in Categories 1 or 3.

3. Very Good (7/10) Thor 2, Thor Ragnarok, Ant Man and Wasp, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3

I'm going to see Captain Marvel this week. Based on reviews from people I trust, I would be shocked if it ranked any lower for me than 7/10.

I almost put Infinity War first since it is an epic story crammed into 2 hours and 40 minutes, but seeing the team unite in the first Avengers movie puts it over the top.

i like ranking things, even if my lists tend to vary & often contradict each other. i thought i had done an mcu ranking on this site some time back, but i couldn't find it scrolling through my history, so i just threw a new one together. if there is another one i've done, it wouldn't surprise me to see that my new list looks completely different. i change my mind on such things all the time.

i really didn't like cm much myself. i don't think it's awful, but it is terribly bland to me, completely devoid of any personality or excitement, anything to latch on to.

in looking at the mcu at 21 films, the thing that stands out for me is how much i really do like most of them. i think 3 of the bottom 4 are pretty bad films in my book, but i can watch each and every other one of the films in this series with genuine enjoyment, and i flat out love the top 8.

the one caveat i will put in here is that i haven't seen im2 since it was released. i remember not hating it, but it's developed such a rocky reputation that i have let it slide all the way down to the bottom of my own list. it's on netflix, so i plan to give it a watch soon.
