How's CM performing there, are there any news about its OW or at least Friday numbers?

Nothing on Boxofficemojo yet, CBM never do very well there anyways.

I guess it depends on the character. Spiderman Homecoming earned a decent 25M whereas GotGvol2 got 10M (which seems to be the average for CBMs).

To be fair, the Japanese Spiderman TV series garnered a huge following in the 70s, and all the other Spider-Man theatrical releases have done good business across the country so far.

It would do great in Japan if Captain Marvel dressed like a schoolgirl. Check out Wikipedia to see how Ms/Captain Marvel used to dress.

It's a matter of fetishes. Modern Japan has a fetish for child-like women (among others), and you can clearly notice that in modern Anime. On the other hand, modern western SJW culture has a fetish for contemptuous women that look like they were going to throw up (specially when they talk to a white male), and you can clearly notice that fetish in modern western popcorn movies. Brie Larson's Captain Marvel is a textbook example.

But at least Japan is self-aware of their own fetishes, and they're quite able to laugh at themselves. :^)

It only appears that way to incels. In the US you have to earn the hot chick. You don't get her just by walking up to her and saying hi. Those contemptuous American women that reject the nerds is a depiction of reality. Those underage looking Japanese women that throw themselves at any man is a depiction of fantasy. That fantasy is not exactly healthy either. Japan may be self-aware of their fetishes but along with it comes a declining population.

Well, actually you have an equivalent fantasy in Japan: the weakest and worthless guy gets all the chicks. This fantasy is a whole subgenre in anime, the so-called 'harem anime'.

That same 'harem' fantasy exists in western SJW culture, where the soyboy whitey SJW who feels very guilty submits to superior women, and in doing so he will bang all the chicks, leaving the rest of dudes as 'incels' aka 'involuntary celibes'.

And again, Japan is self-aware of its own fetishes and fantasies, and unless SJW culture, they're aware the 'harem' fantasy is a fantasy: 'harem anime' is often comedic and over-exaggerated.

We're talking about media dummy. Not whats in some guys head. You talk as if skinnier guys fantasizing about getting the girl in their minds is a new concept.

However there is a reality that the nerd gets the girl over the jock douchebags. It just happens later on in his 20s when he's making six figures and the jock has no athletic career to speak of. In this world muscles don't offer the same level of security as intelligence. It gets the ladies going in their youths but eventually they see past that crap. So credit to women for evolving with the times.

To say that Japan is self-aware of fetishes comes off as a massive understatement. This is the nation where you can find vending machines at subway stations that sell combo packs of whiskey and used panties.
