Overall thoughts and hopes

I saw it last week, despite the underwhelming trailers because I have faith in the MCU, and I really enjoyed myself. I was thoroughly entertained throughout. I loved the twist with the Skrulls which is great because Ben Mendelsohn always plays a bad guy. The 90s was really cool and nostalgic setting that provided a good soundtrack. Goose was fantastic. Though the twist with Furys eye, was kind of dumb based on what he says in Winter Soldier about it. Last but not least though, the tribute to Stan Lee at the beginning was absolutely heartwarming.

A few of my gripes are that some of Brie Larsons line delivery seemed off, but I feel like she'll grow more into it as she continues to portray the character. I also wish we would've got more backstory on the members of the Star Force because I thought they were rather interesting. I also thought Ronan would be built up more too, but he hardly had any screen time.

Overall though, I thought it was great. I'd probably rank it in the higher mid tier of the MCU films.

As for hopes, I think the sequel should take place chronologically before Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronan said he was coming back for Captain Marvel and the line wouldn't make any sense if he doesn't actually come back. I'd really like him to be built up much more because I feel he has so much potential as a great villain, but we just haven't seen that side of him yet.
