I wouldn't lump these people with the right wing. They're uninformed morons without the sense to adopt any political stance.
shareYeah Trump supporter is a better fit.
shareEven that seems awfully inaccurate. I get that it's fashionable to hate the president, and to blame the ills of society on him, and that seems to be even more the case with Trump in office, but I have to be honest-- 99.9% of those who support Trump likely have zero issue with Captain Marvel or Brie Larson. They're regular folks who can discern fact from fiction. Even if 100% of the dumbasses who can't accept the truth to the point that they're now convinced that Disney has somehow hacked or corrupted the system also support Trump, it's pretty disingenuous to label them as such as if that's their defining feature.
Let's just call it like it is-- there is a tiny, tiny number of people who are extremely vocal who can't stand to see women or people of color in starring roles or positions of authority, and they rant about it here rather than engage in a bit of delightful chit chat about movies.
I just know how the misogynists and conspiratorial minded group together. It has nothing to do with politics as Trump is essentially an empty suit which is why conservatism doesn't apply here. Also I'm not talking about people who give Trump a pass. I'm talking about the type of people that show up to his rallies. The kind of people that will nod their heads whenever someone brings up Pizzagate or claim Obama's birth certificate is fake. Every single one of them follows Trump because Trump knew how to get them on his side. Steve Bannon and Roger Stone gave him the recipe back in 2011.
shareWhy didn't they give that secret recipie to Jeb Bush? He doesn't speak Russian?
shareCome on. Quit pretending to be this stupid. Jeb Bush wasn't in with the Roger Stone crowd. Jeb Bush wasn't willing to go down the rabbit hole of fake birth certificates either. Jeb Bush's way in was through the establishment and family legacy just like Hillary Clinton.
shareWhy do i get the feeling this FilmBuff guy is the Cinema Snob?
shareI don't quite get what you're saying, but it's clear you're saying something unkind. What have I said that you're taking issue with?
shareThe Cinema Snob is a popular Youtube Movie Reviewer but i'm sure you already know that because you are the Cinema Snob
shareWhy yes, I am a popular YouTube Movie Reviewer. However did you know?
*Googles Cinema Snob*
It says it's a show? I thought I was a guy making bank giving my opinions about film. I wish. But I'm also pleased to be an actor in a popular show.
You did a great Bingo review i loved that movie as a kid
shareNever heard of it. But apparently the other guy did, so I'm glad you enjoyed my review. I felt the calling of I-19 was particularly symbolic of the plight of the common man.
shareMy favorite part is when they are driving away from the BBQ joint that kidnaps and kills dogs to feed them as BBQ to Freeway Travelers and the dad says "Nothing a little mustard can't fix" it's a great family picture
shareI thought it was based on the game, like Battleship or Tag. Sounds like a much darker take on the classic old folks' home mainstay.
shareYeah Trump supporter is a better fit.
Yeah everybody who disliked the Last Jedi was a Maga Hate Toothless Trump voting Redneck. And it differently wasn't' because it was a poorly executed movies with a terrible plot.
shareMaybe people are mystified that anyone would want to watch a lifeless husk of wood try to act. Kinda like why would any buy somebody boxed shit. And please don't make this political.

Actually, they don't need to commit box office fraud.
They just need to give some weekend totals without much detail. Worldwide, they still haven't included box offices in many countries, no matter they are already available
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=marvel2018a.htm
Tax Office will be only interested in their totals. As long as that's right, there won't be any problem. You increase your numbers the opening weekend and decrease that amount from later weeks. That's just for the press. When it comes to taxes, total fits, no problemo.
Why to do such a thing? To generate to feeling that the movie is a success and counter backlash, trying to increase the total income.
Has that happened? No idea. Is it possible? Yeah, it could be.

Wrong.
The domestic and ww total box office Captain Marvel data was provided by Disney.
https://www.the-numbers.com/news/237500830-Weekend-Estimates-Captain-Marvel-Starts-Higher-Further-Faster
[deleted]
Read the article I linked. It says it clearly: "Captain Marvel is opening with $153.0 million over the weekend, according to Disney".
share[deleted]
Here you have the box office data for one day in the last weekend. We're not talking about estimates here, but about final data for that day. The page itself names the source at the bottom of the spreadsheet:
https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-chart/daily/2019/03/10
And it clearly says:
Our box office charts are compiled from data provided to us BY DISTRIBUTORS
Does Rantrek make some kind of final statistic regarding the total of a movie? Surely, but the day box office is provided BY DISTRIBUTORS.
[deleted]
How Disney gets the data is up to them. Rentrak could be one source, or one of many sources, it doesn't need to be the only source. It doesn't need even to be the source when it comes to daily box office data. I don't know the exact protocol in Disney, and you obviously don't know it neither since you thought Disney didn't provide the data.
Actually, Disney provided the box office data, which is what I said in first place. How they gather or manage or process before releasing it, that's up to them.

Exhibitors (The Movie theaters) will also have to report that as revenue.
If Disney JUST reported any numbers that they wanted to inflate the box office, what would happen to the theater chains having to report their income and being taxed on that income?
Don't think the Exhibitors would go for that.
As a matter of fact Exhibtors in China have gone through this problem on numerous occasions at the behest of their Government.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonchang/2016/10/02/a-disaster-movie-china-box-office-bombs/#853120c41f17
Within the USA there is much more regulations and the SEC would want to know about this box office ticket inflation because it would be an easy way to laundry money. Especially if they are publicly traded companies. I don't think Disney would want to casually do such a thing as there is absolutely nothing to gain by inflating ticket sales. It would be a double loss money out of your pocket and then to be taxed on that imaginary ticket sale. Plus the criminal liability that is too easily proven by the Exhibitor.
Nahhhhhhhhhh, time to end this conspiracy.
As long as the final fits, there would be no problem.
That means that they'd need to subtract that amount later on, so the final box office is not inflated. That case, we could notice a hard drop, bigger than usual, in the second or third weekend.
Why do that?, well, under normal circumstances, there would be no reason. However, this case, it would send the message that there's no backlash, to prevent any backlash to feedback itself. It would be quite clever, actually.
Of course, that's just speculation, but, is it possible? Yeap, it is. Would it benefit Disney? Yeap, it would. Could have happened? Who knows.
So basically you're suggesting that CM is frontloaded by Disney purposefully with the intent of goosing those who haven't seen CM into wanting to see the movie because of FOMO? Fear Of Missing Out. As well as to create a narrative of (unearned) financial and audience superlatives and accomplishments?
As long as the final numbers are accurate then the financial reporting deception is okay?

^^^^
the big problem with this desperate excuse is
every single other major Studio is reporting the exact same numbers
WB,Sony,Paramount ....all major studios are reporting the exact same data and box office.
Why would other Major studios take part in Disney Attempt to "generate to feeling that the movie is a success and counter backlash, trying to increase the total income"
lol think before posting this stuff.
Thats why Box office sites almost always Quote "rival Studios" when giving Projections
If you look at deadlines, variety and Box office Analysts on Twitter, Almost always when they giving early projections on Friday...They Quote "Rival Studios tell me its heading toward a _____ Opening Weekend...While Disney tells me its heading toward a ____ opening Weekend"
I'm sorry what you are suggesting is in fact IMPOSSIBLE because you would Need Every Major Studio, All Theatrical chains, and All Box Office Analysts In on the Scam of Trying to "increase your numbers the opening weekend and decrease that amount from later weeks"
I've very rarely seen a statement more worthy of A "Facepalm" than your post above
it lacks all evidence that you Live in any sort of reality, The Logistics of your made up scenario are staggering to try and figure out just how many people and Companies would have to be on on this Conspiracy to even make it remotely possible...
the fact that you even said it, again suggests your either not living in reality or you simply have so much anger and jealousy toward Marvel Films doing well, you will vomit anything out of your mouth as an excuse with taking even 1 second to think about it to see if it actually makes sense or is even possible
at the end of the day...theres no getting past...The Pure number of people and Rival Studios that would also need to be involved in this
you clearly do not understand how box office works
This is maybe the best example I've ever seen of ...at this point the best thing you can do is simply just NOT SAY ANYTHING else...
you are so clueless on the topic you talking about it, anything else you say, any attempt you try to save face is ONLY going to dig your hole deeper
I'm not kidding, You should feel nothing but SHAME after failing this horrifically
Bomojo has never had complete international figures, I noticed that years ago. Disney does not distribute in all markets.
The film journal link confirms the numbers don't come from Disney. You are proof that BO truthers exist. Can't face that your boycott failed!
The reality denial of right-wingers is terrifying.
The thing is for every right wingers saying the film is bad there is a left winger who would say the film is amazing no matter how it was.
I saw it twice and liked it both times but it is not "terrible" but is is also not "amazing" or "fantastic".
To me it was gender neutral film. Things that happened to her could easily have happened to a guy. In fact, it did. Steve Rodgers was known for getting up every time her got knocked down. The phrase "because you are a girl" is not in the script.
well if you look at box office mojo
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=main&id=marvel2018a.htm
and look at the per screen average you will see an average of $35,999 for opening weekend domestically in 4,310 theaters.
The same information for Black Panther is $50,250 in 300 fewer theaters.
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=marvel2017b.htm
So the logical conclusion would be more people in fewer theaters must mean that the Captain Marvel screenings had fewer people in them.
I saw the film and liked so this is not coming from a "hater" but your argument has a flaw.

Cherry-picking a few empty theatres to say what exactly?
