Something is fishy about the box office numbers

Disney must be buying tickets to their own movie because our local theaters aren’t very full.

Either that or the Democrats are paying illegal immigrants to buy tickets so the numbers are inflated.

Just took a look at my AMC app for the theater I go to and 250 seats were sold for the 3:00 IMAX show. It's also playing on 4 other screens at this theater. Don't think they need to fudge the numbers.

Or your examination of one or two theaters is not representative of the entire world?

For what it's worth, on January 7th, when tickets were released, I went to the closest theater to buy tickets, and both shows were nearly sold out. Only lousy seats remained. I went to the mall and found that the earlier shows were similarly full, and bought two tickets to the 11:05pm showing.

Just accept that Marvel has made another great film, no one gives a shit about what Brie Larson said about A Wrinkle in Time, and that the film has no agenda or message beyond superhero-ing. It's a really great movie. Buy some popcorn and enjoy it, and quite whining about the world around you. Life's too short to waste whining on the internet, especially about non-existent problems.

My theater was full. And happy.

reply

Damn, we didn't get that memo here in the UK.

I saw a 5:15 showing yesterday and that showing was rammed, and the foyer was rammed for the next lot to go in and see it.

Where do I get my Disney cheque from?

reply

Mine was packed out

reply

Better than packed in, I suppose.

I think the sales will drop once a the Radical Feminist get done watching it. There only group who would be into watching a emotionaless piece of wood try to act.

reply

My theatre was full. I very much doubt it was full of those people you mention.

the exit data apparently shows that the audience was 55% male, at least on friday, which is a bit off from the wonder woman opening of 60% female.

i suppose that speaks to the loyalty the mcu base has to the studio's product, and given their strong track record, that's probably warranted.

reply

A lot of fine actors, both male and female, find themselves unable to perform well in big budget movies. See Garret Hedlund.

All the China box office numbers are fake, so that was $100m spent by the marketing dept. Always beware of those. The BBC said that Chinese movies theaters are 100% EMPTY.
