When are women of colour going to get their movie?

We've had Black Panther for black men, Captain Marvel for white women. So, when are women of colour going to get their hero?!? Huh, Marvel?!? [*angry face*]

reply

In the case of Black Panther a "Plethora" of strong-minded, consistent and expertly portrayed black women were the showcase of the film. So much so that as an ensemble they shared the stage equally with T'Challa. The multiplicity of roles was just breathtaking to the point that Siri was for many people their favorite character and might very well be used as a gateway to an even more prominent role in the MCU. Not just within the Black Panther franchise but for the entire MCU.

Marvel's most prominent Black and female characters are within the X-Men which was always meant as a mirror for the civil rights movement with Xavier (Professor X) being MLK and Eric (Magneto) being Malcolm X. Marvel just doesn't have a large stable of established female characters that they can use within the MCU.

On the small screen Netflix introduced fans to Misty Knight but the cancellation means she will be on hiatus and may not ever return. Even Agents of SHIELD have yet to feature a strong Black women amongst their strong line-up of women and women of color.

Pardon me. Just who are you and is there some problem that you'd like to talk to me about?

reply

You're the guy who defended the "Brie ... cunt" post. Who posted that?

reply

I wasn't the OP of the original post. And I will defend anyone's ability to post anything without it being deleted, even shit from our Resident Sufferer of Dysentery™. (shocking concept to people like you who cream themselves over censorship, I know)

No offence NorridRad but are you a proper progressive liberal or just a shill for Disney?

A genuine progressive liberal would be holding corporations to account rather than defending their failings.

I have no idea what a Proper Progressive Liberal is. I have no idea what an Improper Progressive or Regressive Liberal or Conservative is. I have no clue. I don't have a Proper Progressive Liberal club card. Wasn't ever initiated, appointed, recruited, nor ever served in the Proper Progressive Liberal army. I have no idea what any of that has to do with movies that I like or dislike. I do collect media though. As a kid I collected comic books (don't have them any longer) and later I collected music (still have my collection) in a wide variety of genres and styles. Again I have no idea what being a Proper Progressive Liberal has to do with anything and I have no idea why you would ask me such an tangential question.

Next question, "or just a shill for Disney"? No I don't work for Disney. I don't own any Disney stock (I probably need to check my portfolio though to be sure). I have no family members nor know of anyone that works for Disney. Now I must switch from politeness to purposefully and directly responding to you personally.

Your emotional immaturity and intellectual insecurity is just heartbreaking and at first I thought you were feigning self-awareness in an effort to be provocative. You are indeed just that accidentally clueless.

There are some words that you spout but you have zero, nada, zilch of a depth of understanding of what any of the words or labels that you use even mean.

Do you shill for a God? I guess maybe Bernie Sanders is your god?
Do you shill for an ideology? Probably not one that you have a real conviction for?
Do you shill for Enlightenment? You're probably not a fan of Descartes, Locke, or Newton?

This is a really safe space for you. If you're having problems in your little faux reality of a life feel free to open up right here. I can't vouch for others but I'll listen to any and all cries for help.

reply

Did you need to be so rude?

I asked you a simple question. If my assumption was wrong, I apologise, but I wasn't making a definitive judgement on you, as you have made with me.

reply

They already did in 2004 and it sucked.

I think you're being sarcastic.

For your information, I'm genuine.

Women and POC aren't superior in every way. That is not my point. But they still deserve an equal platform to white men.

reply

You should be a little concerned if you can't tell when similar beliefs to yours are sarcastic quips or not.

Also, why do you people seem to think that a person of a certain race can only connect with another person of a certain race? Why the constant emphasis on race? Regressive much?

I try to accept people at face-value.

Based on his previous posts and his username, I had my doubts about CuckleberryFinn, but if he posts something I agree with, I'm going to say so, whether or not his underlying intentions are sarcastic.

And where have I implied that people of a certain race can only connect with others of that same race (presumably that's what you're trying to ask)? All I'm saying is that it would be nice for WOC to see superheroes that look like and share similar backgrounds to them.

What the hell?

I thought you and I got on TJLamb0518. What's the hate in order of?

Do you disagree with my OP?

When are trans bisexual amputees going to get their movie. SMH Marvel

reply

in the 80s Captain Marvel was a woman of color by the name Monica Rambeau.

I guess Hollywood decided to go with the white female version of the character that came later (in the comics universe).

Black Panther had a lot of strong women of color already. This is all the past now. This is NOT WOKE enough. We need tranny/queers taking the hero/ine roles when they can use super powers that confuses the hell outta the enemies.

reply

They already have. Her name is Gamora as she's part of the Guardians of the Galaxy :-)

reply

Gamora is a green alien.

reply

News alert, genius....Green is a color.

reply

Yes, but a green alien does not represent human POC.

reply

But we made an orange alien president.....

reply

Why do you hate green? Why do want to discriminate green people declaring them unworthy of representing human POC? Why are you a non-green people supremacist?

Green Lives Matter!
