I am a big fan of the original movie but thought the stage show was terrible. Luckily, this was the perfect format for the songs from the show! It was a fun, modern version of what I used to watch as a kid, and I'm sure I'll keep watching it for years to come.
My only complaint is that some moments - especially at the beginning and end - felt extremely rushed in their efforts to condense the story into 40 minutes.

It was crap. There's no way anyone liked it. The op must be one of Jim Parsons "friends" that his husband is unaware of.

I by no means liked the special, but why is it when somebody has a differing opinion from others that the others just automatically assume the person posting something positive about it must have an ulterior motive?
I've been accused of working for various movie studios over time when posting about TV shows/movies I like. I WISH I was paid all day to post on message boards. Suck it up...sometimes people just like different stuff for different reasons. I didn't like this show, but I wouldn't go so far to accuse somebody of actually liking it to be posting a fake message.
Because some people are so deluded and self-obsessed that they can't fathom the very idea of somebody liking something they don't. I also doubt that they're able to grasp the very simple concept of what a message board is for, when they insist on being hostile whenever they come across a *gasp* differing opinion!
