Worst voice over in the history of film?

Worst actor too.

Worst TV series of the year. Worst editing. Worth sound mixing. Worst acting. Worst everything haha.

You're not lying.

This is the first time that I've actually been pulled out of a show by atrocious audio (and I've watched every MST3K and many Rifftrax). I don't remember the MSTies having audio this inept. The mixing is so bad as to be funny. The voices are clearly being recorded in a sound booth, no attempt to make them match the environment.

The scene in the prison, where the brother is talking to the sister on the TV screen is a perfect example. His head doesn't even move; it seems to be a held frame.

O Brother, where art thou? Why, I be in a recording studio booth, of course.

Worse, there are even scenes were the dialog doesn't match the lip movement! I've noticed this bad habit (laziness) creeping in other productions, where a character is shown from 3Q rear, a jaw that doesn't move, but who still speak - but this show takes the cake.

So for the slow learners in film school, and/or their nepotistic hirelings, if you want to shoot a few shots for safety (in case dialog is going to be done in post, god help us), shoot about 30 seconds of your 'actor' saying 'watermelon cantelope' or some other genera, with occasional pauses. Drop your dialog on that. Better to have something moving for no reason than not moving for no reason.

Also, VFX on the demons are comically bad.

Nah, there's too much good TV to waste on this rubbish.

Yeah, this is all a big fault on the production side. Sometimes i think i'm hearing noises beyond the screen, and don't know who is talking at times because the camera isn't focusing on a particular character.

reply

yup the sound mixing is really distractingly bad, lots of post sync, poorly matched

I know, right? If you're going to have one guy narrate the whole thing, maybe pick an actor who doesn't always sound like he's deaf and just got out of bed with a cosmic hangover?

I already thought he was sticking out like a sore thumb in Damages but boy, he didn't improve with time, did he?

At first I thought he was trying to parody film noir voiceovers in a tongue-in-cheek way, but no, they meant it.

OMG, in the 3rd show, the guy at the bar asks, Who she is... and her original reply looked like she said "I'm Maria", but they overdubbed....terribly I might add... "It depends". It was loud and completely obvious.

So the demon isn't Maria, but she was acting AS the demon.... so it was a mistake but I'd rather have her just say the recorded line than that awful overdub....takes you right out of the show.

Now I know how King Arthur felt when Lancelot caressed his wife's genitalia!

thats exactly the spot I stopped. At that very moment I said screw this, and hit the stop button

what the heck was that

And here I thought I was the only one ho wanted to puncture his own eardrums with a rusty ice pick every time he "nararrated" the proceedings. My God his voice is annoying. He talks like he washed a fistfull of Xanax down with a big gulp sized cup full of vodka....

reply

Yea I gave up on that series after the 3rd episode. Was just soo bad of quality as if the company has no idea what they are doing.
