I know that this is supposed to be a limited run but the final episode is referred to as "season finale" rather than "series finale".

What I read was that it was a mini-series but if it did well there was talk of evolving the show past a mini-series.

^^^Honestly, I don't. The show is already hanging out with completely ludicrous with what Lizzie has been able to get away with. And they killed of her best adversary in Siringo.
I would mind if they did an episode (if it's not the final episode) or movie concluding the 'Borden saga' with showing Emma/Lizzie having the falling out and seeing them later in life when they both die. Since the sisters died 9 days apart - it reminds me of the old couples where the husband and wife spent most of their life together and once one of the spouses died the other one was not far off.
I agree that I don't want a second season but I like your idea of a movie concluding the story. I've enjoyed the absurdity of this mini-series but don't think that it can sustain itself for a second run. Also I have really enjoyed the soundtrack and must track down the music.

shareI don't think Lifetime has ever referred to this as a mini-series. They have called it a limited series but that just means that it has a low number of episodes per season.
TV has gotten a little silly recently by trying to make up new and exciting terms for series'. They have also started using the term "Event Series". That means the same as a mini-series.

"Limited series" is the new terminology for "we'll see how well it does in the ratings. If it tanks, we'll say we never meant to make more episodes. If it's a success, we'll keep going."

Your explanation was very helpful. It's so very sad to see this series cancelled. I wonder if it is more because the writers are void of talent themselves and maybe too difficult to produce quality TV rather than the mind numbing reality programs that litter TV or perhaps, just the mindset of today's generation. Either way, I will sorely miss this program. Ricci and Duvall were so eloquent and complimented each other so well.

I am addicted to Ricci and Duvall and so sad to see them go. Seldom are 2 actors so complimented by each other. Not to mention the quality of the program itself.
