Wow, that poster is just.... Awful.

They did an absolute horrible job pasting Cobie Smulder's head onto the pregnant body. It just looks horrible. I'd expect a mega-million (or billion) dollar company would do a better job of making a poster. The movie itself looks good, but the poster is just horrendous.

THANK YOU!! I don't get it. I've taken some VFX classes and I can do a better Photoshop than that. Look at the "Dope" poster on here. It has the sane problems.

I literally know nothing about this movie and i saw the poster on the imdb front page and just said to myself, "that poster looks like *beep* It looked so bad that i came onto this forum to complain and then found out that people were already complaining. I took one year of digital design and could make a better poster than that. Terrible photoshop

That's exactly what I thought. I noticed the poster first before watching the trailer and I was just amazed at how bad the poster actually looks. If they decide to cheap out on the horribly-photoshopped poster, then it makes me have reservations about the movie, itself. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make a good poster but it looks like they just grabbed someone from the local Wal-Mart or Toys R Us and told them to go with it. It's honestly one of the worst photoshopped posters I've ever seen, and the 'Dope' poster doesn't look that great, either. But oh well.

Yep. I've seen a lot of bad posters over the years, but here recently there's some hope.
Not in posters, but in Bluray/DVD covers. I've noticed a lot of newer movies have fresh, exciting, and unique posters that represent the movie inside the case. And this comes after years of genre movies all having similar cases and just design and font work all looking the same. It's exciting to see this. I think it comes from all these different studios nowadays. Rather than say one large production studio pumping out flicks, a lot of little studios with different crews pump out a few movies here and there and it creates for variety both in film and in cover.

Movie was made on less than a million dollar budget. Not a mega million and/ or billion dollar company... Which is why it went to sundance to seek a distributor...

Cobie head wasn't put on a pregnant body because she was pregnant during the shoot...

reply

Regardless of who the company is or whatever, the poster is frankly horrible. That's all I'm trying to say. They could have paid one of those photoshop geniuses to make a poster and I'm sure it wouldn't have put even a small dent in their production costs. You can't tell me, with a straight face, that they didn't do a crappy job making the poster. It sucks, honestly. But, it's whatever.

Cobie was apparently pregnant during some point when this film was being made, so why not just use her actual pregnant body on the poster? Or better yet, if she wasn't pregnant enough to have a big ole belly, then why not just use one of those pregnant cast molds/fake belly straps/some clothes attachment or whatever and take her picture like that? Because honestly, it looks like they ultimately decided to cheap out and go the worst route. But, it is what it is. I don't run Hollywood so I don't have control over squat but I'm just saying that it looks like *beep* and they coulda done a better job.

reply

It may very well be her body on the poster but her head was obviously digitally added to the body. And it looks terrible.

reply

It's kind of weird, because it's taken from a scene in the movie, with the only real differences being the color of her shirt and the cups that they're holding. Why not just use that image?

reply

The plot summary (I think that's what it's called) calls it an unlikely friendship. What's so unlikely about it?

reply

Pregnant teachers aren't usually friends with their pregnant students. At least, I've never seen that in real life. Maybe you have.

reply

That's a completely irrelevant question.
