What an unbelievable load of crap...

How so? Haven't see it yet, except FF aka ABCF commercial previews. It makes me a little nervous, seeing how the commercials are depicting treatment and making it sound like the 'heroine' of the show is wonderful because she's 'rebellious' and a 'rule breaker'. It's that kind of stuff that keeps addicts from recovery and I'd hate to see the world of addiction recovery reduced to teen romance breaking the rules and they are right/everyone else is wrong.

I watched the frist episode only (to be fair) and it was totally unbelievable.

A drunk teenager comes home wasted after a party and is immediately condemned to a closed rehab institution. No back story, no obvious alcoholism as the girl shows up in school the next morning fresh as a fiddle. Didn't ditch school, committed no crimes, didn't wreck anything or anybody. Just blew on a alcohol test a little over the limit.

And the girl itself... Obvious a family with plenty of money and I have never seen a more "white" black girl as this one. But then again.. I don't live in Suburbia...

I dunno... I found it a total crapfest...

See, that makes me nervous about the premise. It 'could' have been good and educational, now it just sounds like...well the usual ABCFam dreck.

Yes it is typical in IMDB forums, that people complain about things they didn't see when they were playing candy crush saga. Even though I was a stupid kid and didn't understand everything I tried to find things out. And when you try to explain things to kids they just don't believe you, but trust their 10 year old friend whose only hobby is troll on internet.

Even though I don't live in US I think it is believable that in some states and some private schools this kind situation is possible, because it is possible in my country and I have seen similar things in documentaries (and mockumentaries).

NSDUH statistics state that "Over 138,000 people ages 12 to 17 were treated at a specialized facility in the year 2010" So it is not searching for unicorns in container wars case, but believable background story for a drama series.

Sadly, this is a show for people who have no experience with addiction. Those who are familiar with anything 12-step would turn it off after about 15 minutes as I did, since I recognized nothing familiar that I'd encountered in the last 11,560 days. If you want a good story of addiction, go to American Crime s01. People in recovery universally saw Aubry as one chipped tooth shy of perfect in the role. The thing with addiction is that to be accurate, it has to make no sense. These stories are charted out as A -> B -> C -> ..., whereas real addiction/recovery is F -> K -> A -> Q ... Regular folks wouldn't watch a show like this, so it would fail in the ratings. The closest one could get to real addiction and be successful is a show like "Cheers," where they took alcohological thinking patterns and made them into a clever comedy. Norm's comment about sitting on a stool all day drinking beer while trying to figure out why his marriage isn't working is the consummate example. Similarly, TV is about laughing at, while humor in recovery is about laughing with. For a good example, look at Craig Ferguson's lead. ** To me, getting a show about addiction/recovery to be both authentic and popular is about as unlikely as getting a good version of either Hitchhikers Guide or Confederacy of Dunces on the screen. Some pieces of literature/life don't transfer well to a script. Over the years Deadliest Catch has touched on how addiction has affected a number of the participants, but they always shy away when they get too close. A couple of good rehab counselors could have a field day with that cast as presented. For me, it is just more practice at letting go. ;-)

Yeah considering the series premier only drew in about 465k viewers, I'm going to agree with you. It's completely unrealistic and ridiculous.
