No, it doesn't. After the intermission, DeVito has WD, and after DeVito (who went to jail or the nuthouse), Ellen Burstyn has her.
An explanation wasn't needed for the couple with DS. The woman was happier about getting the leash than the dog, and the man was only interested in videogames.

YW! I agree, was sorry to see it end. Had some of the best dialogue I've heard in ages. Sad, funny, troubling...similar to Noah Baumbach's best films.
I just happened to notice it on Netflix today and thought, "That looks interesting."
