Season 2 Discussion *OBVIOUS SPOILERS*

Barely any topics on this and just made it to the end. What did you guys think of the conclusion and season overall?

I believe the lack of discussion can be a result of two things:

1. The show is only available on a weekly basis in Canada (yes, even on Netflix). So Canadian viewers are not able to consume it as quickly.
2. It is not a widely popular show.

With that being said, I was very happy to see Netflix not limiting episodes to release on a weekly basis here in the U.S., as they had done last season. The show is simply not made for, nor good enough to withstand waiting an entire week to see the next episode - i.e. a traditional television model. It went against everything Netflix is about - binge watching. And this is definitely a show that benefits (story wise) from being able to continue the narrative, immediately. Shows are now specifically written with binging and streaming companies as the rollout format being the target audience (which in turn makes a weekly show much like the second film in a trilogy - there is not much payoff by way of moving the story forward).

I was shocked that I actually found Ep1, Ep5, and Ep6 to be good (with the finale, Ep6, being the clear standout of higher quality in every regard). While there were still many, many instances in which I rolled my eyes and thought to myself (and even spoke out loud at times), "really?" it definitely was an improvement over S1.

One thing it proved was that if they tightened up the writing (some stuff is just still too unbelievable) and cast solid actors (killing off the others who are weak characters and actors), it could actually be a show worth watching, without regret.

The difference for me was the ability to binge S2. Had I been left to wait a week between each new episode, I would not have watched the new season.

I gave Season 1 a rating of five here on IMDb. I would give Season 2 a 6 1/2.

Season 2 is considerably better, I binged last night and was sorry to see it end--at least until (perhaps?) there is a 3rd season. Somehow, even the insufferable brattiness of the lead girl--I refuse to memorize her name--was toned down. (It's her acting stock-in-trade but maybe she took lessons, or was hit on the head.) And there was a pleasant physical alteration to one of the characters that was much-needed!

I won't spoil anything, but I'm probably not alone in wondering, where's that puppy?

"weekly basis in Canada (yes, even on Netflix)"

Nope we only have season 1 nothing of season 2 on Netflix.

Oooo second season is out? Do I want to torture myself again or not? Hmmmm.

Season 2 was more interesting than the first. It actually went somewhere. Almost makes me wish it wasn't just 6 episodes per season.

SOOOO much better than season 1. When I started season 2 up, I was thinking why am I wasting my time? But the show got better as the season went along and had me drawn in. Still not a great show, but it is good now instead of bad like season one was. I'd give it about a 7 right now compared to other shows that are out. It's going to be interesting what happens in season 3 with the virus being released world wide and are they going to blame it on the few people who escaped?

It also helps that they killed off the worst character, Gord.

I enjoyed the show myself. I kept thinking the lead girl looked familiar. Then my 12yr son walks in and says hey that's the girl from Sam and Cat. Btw what happened to the puppy??? Will someone please go find the dog!!!!

reply

I thought about that when they drove back in town. Like, I get it your girlfriend got shot in the head, but at least don't abandon a helpless puppy.

I was so happy Gord was killed. For me, he was the most ridiculous character, and clearly much older than 21.

reply

Gord was proof the virus didn't work. ;)

I just finished watching season 1 and season 2 in the space of 24 hours. I am surprised that it has rated so low on IMDb.

I thought it was a good show. Not perfect. Far from it, but I found it highly entertaining.

Season two was a big improvement with the finale being the best. The quality was light years ahead of season one imo
