It'll be CGI since that seems to be the trend in movies these days.

Dont believe everything,it would be 2D Flash-animated movie, and case closed.

reply

actually it's already been confirmed to have 2D animation :) http://www.entertainmentcareers.net/DHX-Media/Feature-Storyboard-Artists-2D/job/197337/

reply

I wonder if it'll be the Flash animation like the TV show and the EG movies, or really good 2D traditional/digital animation ^^

reply

I don't know. But that would certainly be interesting to see it done in a more traditional animation style.

reply

I've heard it will be hand drawn! The movements will look more natural and there will be more depth and shade.

Live action.

We just found the portal to Equestria and hired the real ponies to star as themselves.

We even found real villains! Nothing can possibly go wrong!

(Villains take over the world... in 10 seconds flat.)

Twilight: You didn't see that coming?!
Me: I didn't! I really didn't!
Discord: See, I'm not the only gullible twit around here!

;D

reply

They should try to do live action. They can spray paint real ponies and make their mouths move like in the Eddie Murphy version of Dr. Doolittle.

reply

Won't it be animated the way the show is?

I heard this at least a month ago, but I was looking back at these posts and thought someone might like an update. They have a new program that is more detailed and realistic than flash that they are using for the movie called Harmony. Not a lot can be seen from the still shots I saw, but the ears are noticably more detailed.

reply

It's based on a program called ToonBoom, which has been used to great effect by a number of independent animators.

It can certainly perform at a theatrical-quality level.
