This movie should be mandatory in high school

It covers many important subjects: perception of sex and drugs in youngsters today, racial reality, living under influence, law and order, rape, life of a drug dealer...
There's a lot to discuss about. Lots of whats and whys and becauses. A lot to learn from and understand.

I agree. However, this movie also carries an R rating. The showing of R-rated films to high school students may violate school policy.

But I think that there are many themes in movies (including all of the ones that you mentioned) that may provide excellent jumping-off points for discussion (most especially regarding those tough subjects) between kids and their parents.

I know that this isn't always a realistic expectation, perhaps particularly if parents haven't facilitated these kinds of discussions (in age-appropriate ways, of course) with their kids, starting from when they were much younger.

But what do you think - is it ever too late to start?

LOL. Are you talking about America? Because most high schools in America still teach abstinence-only sex education. If American parents got wind that this was being shown to their teenagers in schools there would be a legitimate society-wide conniption.
