criticism is not justified
People, people!
Settle down!
So far, the criticisms seem to fall into two camps.
1.) Why can't Disney/Nickelodeon copy 100% of the original characters, plus copy 100% of the original plot, of a million-dollar 1.75-hour film, into a half-hour, family-safe, 3-act, situation comedy?
(Answer: Because it is impossible.)
2.) Why didn't the casting director cast Jack Black to play Dewey Finn?
(Answer: Because Jack Black is an old man, and the part calls for someone in their late teens or early twenties. Jack Black is now 46 years old, with gray hair. Balding men do not make good-looking guitar heroes.)
Bottom line:
• Don't criticize the show based on the quantity of people in the cast.
• Don't criticize the show because you still believe a 46 year-old man can still (!) play a "failure-to-launch" "Peter-Pan Syndrome" man.
Remember:
• The show is designed for the under-18 audience.
• The show must never use sexual situations, nor foul language, nor drug usage.
So the show will never include elements from the original film, except those elements which are family-safe.
To me, the show seems consistent with other Nickelodeon shows.
And that is the standard by which to judge.
