This is a joke right

Remaking a 2003 movie into a TV show?!?! WITHOUT JACK BLACK?! are they out of their minds?? They're casting different actors but keeping the same characters!

reply

No no it IS a joke. Don't worry about it.

Ever heard of "The Odd Couple", "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir", "Please Don't Eat the Daisies", "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" or a hundred other movies that were made into tv shows with the same characters but different actors?

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Jack is almost 50 years old, I'm sure neither he nor Nick wanted to have someone his age playing a struggling musician (which typically are under30). I'm hoping he guest stars. It would be funny if he's some sort of authority figure that disapproves of the teacher. That would be awesome. To me at least.

Don't forget Clueless and Buffy The Vampire Slayer were both movies first before made into TV shows with a new cast.

The target audience of this show wasn't yet born in 2003 , hasn't seen the movie and probably only vaguely knows what a Jack Black is.

So true. That made my day! 

Trust No One The X Files (1993)

the problem is that it lacks the magic of the film, plus the kids don't resist, they jump in right away.

not very good...

it made me kinda sad, not that it was being remade, but made me sad that it was being remade in such a poor and ridiculous way.
if they were going to remake it at least try to make it good... at least try

this is honestly kinda depressing

Clueless had some of the same actors from the movie. Even in M.A.S.H. Gary Burgdoff repeated his role from the movie.
