The color yellow

What do you all think about the prominence of yellow in the movie? The tulips, many of Teresa's clothes, decor in their apartment, the new home at the end, the lemonade, etc. Symbolism? Of what?

hi,
in my country, Romania, yellow represents envy. maybe that is the case here

I was wondering what was up with all the yellow as well. But since yellow is my favorite color, I loved seeing it. My theory is that yellow is a color that generally has a positive connotation attached to it. Yellow means sunshine, happiness, vitality, innocence, sweetness, friendliness, etc.
But it's interesting that the bad (odd, weird, evil) couple, Theresa and Jon, were the ones permeated in yellow, yet we knew all along that they had dark intentions. The good couple, Kate and Justin, exuded a sort of grey, depressing bleakness; notice that their apartment seemed a lot 'darker' at times, especially as we see how Kate's character descends into mental decline.
I think the yellow was just to offset the awful truth about Theresa and Jon. They appear innocent and sweet on the surface, but what they really are is quite the opposite.

Yeah, no problem. I know you posted the question over a month ago. I only just saw the movie and I was wondering the same thing.
Cheers!
