Whose clothing was Darling tearing up toward the end, and why? I didn't get the significance of this little detail.

It was her clothing. As to the meaning, I don't think anyone can know for sure.

She was eradicating her own clothing as part of the process of the eradication of her own identity throughout the film, as she gave herself over to the entity inside the house.

"My ears! My ears! I'll go deaf!"

Great insight-also indications seemed to be that this gal was already nuts before she was even introduced to this house of horrors and then became even more unhinged, yes?

This is is what I thought, too. Actually, I came away thinking that she was just crazy and the house wasn't haunted at all. Didn't she say something to the "madame" that her last employers were weird and never paid her? I figured she killed them.
