Seems like her only purpose in the films is because there must be a romantic interest for some reason and the films suffer due to it.

As a Harry Potter fan who read all the books and looked forward to these new films...I envisioned Scamander to be an adventurer/ALLAN QUATERMAIN-type of character.
Not the creepy little twit who sat at the back of the class wiping his boogers under his desk with ink stains on his shirt from a leaky pocket-protector.
Couple that with Johnny Depp’s infinitely annoying fake British accent and you have a film I just can’t stomach.
Yeah. Eddie Redmayne has always been an odd leading man. I could understand him in some of the roles, but dude is scrawny and looks like a frog.

I'm all for more buck-toothed geek heroes! Just not ones who are written so badly, or played by as limited an actor as Eddie Redmayne.
The fact is, there's nothing I like better in real life than hanging around with dorky geeks who love animals and are willing to spend hours ranting about them, so if I don't like Newt Scamander then he's a total flop as a hero.
