I'm all for it! He's an excellent actor, and quite hot in a mature way. He'll be good.

Depp, not so much. I wish they'd cast Paul Bettany as Grindlewald, he's an excellent actor and quite beautiful and charismatic. Grindlewald should be someone who can seduce and manipulate people, charm them and turn rational people into his besotted patsies! A bleached and bloated Depp isn't going to be that person.

I did too. I mean, I was a huge fan of Depp for a long time, before he got lazy. And by "lazy", I mean relying far too heavily on extreme character makeup, among other htings, and his awful bleach job made him look even worse than the purple blusher he used in "Dark Shadows"!

No, they should have hired someone handsome and charismatic, someone a young Jude Law could have been seduced, manipulated, and fooled by. Someone with real appeal, not a bad bleach job!

Bettany is the best suggestion I've heard yet, someone else suggested Alexander Skarsgard. Who is actually only 4 years younger than Law, even if he somehow seems rather younger.

Yeah, Bettany is good-looking and cool and a very good actor, but yeah, he might be a little short of the charisma the ideal Grindlewald would need.

But yeah, we're stuck with Depp, and I don't think that's going to be a good thing.

I agree with the lazy comment. I know that he is a talented actor, but it almost seems like that for the past several years, he just wants to wear extreme make for its own sake rather than trying to develop a character. I was not at all pleased to see him show up at the end of the movie.

I can’t exactly call myself a Jude Law fan, and yet I’m digging his casting as Dumbledore. Judging by the trailer, he does look well suited in the role.

As for being stuck with Depp, his casting is proving to be quite unpopular, huh? I, for one, loved his short appearance in the first Fantastic Beasts and I no doubt look forward to seeing him in this sequel. I know it hasn’t been exciting to see him continually take on eccentric roles in the last decade or so, but I’ll still give the guy a chance. And however ridiculous he may look (seems like some people are blaming his appearance on him) or whatever tired “Depp gimmicks” he’s going to be bringing, I’m all for Depp as Grindelwald. Until we actually see more of him than just a few minutes/seconds of screen time, then right now I have to say Depp is working for me. Bloated? Probably appropriate for this take on the character.
