Not a good movie, but watchable for mindless fluff

You do get some good scenery from Italy.

almost everything that came out of sjp's character's mouth made me cringe. the writing was terrible. but yes, at least the locations were nice.

Probably the only positive from the film!

I agree OP, it made for easy watching. The kind of film you throw on in the background for the Tuscan/Roman scenery and the pretty Italian guy. I don't think the film is as bad as it gets slated as. It was clearly a low-budget, low-aspirations movie and it doesn't try to be arthouse or blockbuster so it should not be reviewed as failing to be either.

The cinematography was good, the soundtrack was inoffensive, the acting was acceptable, the plot was harmless and I thought the love story between the two old people was quite charming, a demographic not often explored in mainstream cinema. Not to mention the grandma was a hilarious scene-stealer every time.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

Yes the grandma scenes were my favourite. She killed it.

Any asshole who throws something on “in the background” is no one I
want in my life. I think I agree with you, Melissah

Tried to watch this the other night and had to turn it off; it was so cringe. The daughter was just too obnoxious for words...if I had a kid that was just arrested/getting her juvie record sponged and KNEW she was still dealing with some guy trying to get her to take a criminal rap for him, the last thing I would do would be to take her on a 'mother/daughter' bonding road trip. SJP was just too chipper for what has been going on in her life and the daughter was just unwatchable. I may try again just too see the scenes in Rome but ...man...it was hard to watch...I turned it off right after the girl got off the phone with the boy and her mom decided to go meet the guy again. Maybe 10-15 min into the movie.
