The "rebel" daughter

What I learnt. Anti-establishment types involved in the occupy movement are really just precocious self-interested weed-smoking brats. Thanks, hack writers.

Wow, did you really write that? What's wrong with you? Do you really think you have the requisite brain power to render your opinion relevant or substantive?

Yah, *they're* the hack writers. LOL

Was it just me or were the daughter's clothes kind of dated? It seemed like the kind of thing emo kids were wearing 10+ years ago.

reply

I don't know about the clothes, but she certainly didn't come across like a real person with normal human reactions. I get that we're not supposed to like her and that she is supposed to agitate the audience, but she was like a caricature.

If it wasn't for Claudia Cardinale's nonna character her scenes would be completely unbearable.

Which I mostly attribute to the writers and the director, and not to the actress herself. Rosie Day was great in Outlander (2014) as Mary, and she got good reviews for her perfmance in The Seasoning House (2012) which I admit to not having seen though.

Yeah, it's a horribly written character. Rosie Day tries but there's only so much that can be done with such a crummy script.

The opening scene on the plane - literally the introduction to her character - is immediately cliched and poor. When Parker offers her a sandwhich and adds "it's vegan", I thought "Here we go." One more lame portrayal of a young political activist who's just an unlikeable, difficult, spoiled brat. So trite and awful.

But then all the characters are badly written. Parker's character is so prudish, soppy and milqetoast she could've been played by a wet doormat. None of the characters feel genuine or plausible and none of them have any chemistry. What a bad, bad movie.

A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.
