Ok huge Ray Liotta fan so....

I'll totally be checking this out. What about you guys? Instant interest? Or instant disdain?

reply

Instant interest -- good story, high production values, two superb leads and a great director. Shades of Blue could be very special.

Liotta can take anger to new savage heights. Definitely wouldn't want to tick him off.

reply

Few actors can play angry so well, but Liotta has plenty of depth and can create the kind of complex, intense and interesting characters detective dramas thrive on. Lopez, on the other hand, is excellent at playing tough but sympathetic characters, so the dynamic between the two could be something special. She's also very good with difficult emotional scenes and slippery dialogue, and that's also where Liotta excels. He can play characters who push emotional buttons and speak with an intensity that's designed to make other characters question themselves or cower in fear.

If this show had almost anybody other than Lopez in the lead I would give this show a chance. But not even the great Ray Liotta (huge fan) can make me watch something with her in it. Very disappointing because the trailers look decent enough but not worth giving it a try for me with Lopez.

Hey, let's not write the show off until we've at least seen a few episodes.

I like the premise, and of course, Ray Liotta is great. Jennifer Lopez could be really good in this. She's basically trapped and made to make a choice she's doesn't want to.

It's a Barry Levinson-produced show, plus I think he's doing some directing. I can't imagine it's the next Homicide: Life on the Streets, but want to see if he still has the mojo.

reply

Levinson and Lopez are producing and have the foremost creative input. Levinson is directing the first two episodes, but will be involved in the captivity of a producer thereafter. I can't see any aspect of Shades of Blue not having both his and Lopez's input and approval.

I am a huge Ray Liotta fan as well, but I won't be checking this out.
