Amelia

Amelia looks like one of those woman in the movies who lures you to her cabin and ends up being a psychopathic murderer. She could definitely pass for a Manson Family member if this were the 70's ... with that being said, i'm sure she's a nice lady.

None of them knows shlt about living as a homesteader.

I just saw my first episode of this show (S03E08) where they bought some piglets, seven I think, and immediately put them in a way to small pigsty, without any vegetation at all, and with a very rudimentary shelter made of a tarpaulin, that barely could fit more than to or three pigs at a time. And the pigsty it self was made of some flimsy steel fence, that a disabled turtle could escape from.

Why the hell do these people not seek help or at least advise about HOW to raise pigs, BEFORE they go get some, its beyond me!?! Pigs grows FAST and they'll be friggin' big in no time!

Those two obviously don't know much about what the hell they're doing. If this was "real life" and they don't have any other choices, they'll be dead in a year of so.

I have family that's been producing free range livestock for almost four decades now, so even before it became smart and hipster to do so, and they raised a wide variety of free range livestock; pigs, hens, ducks, geese, cheep, goats, and pheasants, so I know a bit about how to do that, and it's not the way they do it! SEEK HELP!!

So, because they don't know jack about pigs, which they admitted before they even got them, they don't know jack about living as homesteaders?

Ah, so you are the one in seven billion who is an expert at something before you have done it the first time?

They've done pretty well so far, and they are very ingenious. To say they don't know jack about living as a homesteader because they were inexperienced about their pigs holds about as much water as accusing someone of breathing oxygen.

Your family has been raising free range livestock for 40 years. I would imagine in that time, they got pretty good at it. But I also imagine when they started out they made their share of mistakes. I bet if you asked the oldest people in the family, they could tell you stories of really stupid mistakes they made.

I heard about a wheat farmer in Kansas who sold his huge wheat farm (measured in square miles) and bought a smaller one in North Carolina that was just a few acres to grow herbs. He was an experienced farmer, but his first year was a bust. But in that first year he also learned what he did wrong. The following year he did great.

Amelia, at first glance, is not particularly attractive. But as time passes and you see how grounded and capable she is, she becomes more and more attractive. Plus, she's got a cute little butt!

I don't know about the gender reassignment, but Amelia is definitely the grounded, sensible and experienced one, while Tony is the space cadet. But they work well together, and that's nice to see. I like them.

I only just started watching this show this season, and have only seen about 4 or 5 episodes. I didn't think much of her at first, but she is becoming one of my favorites. She IS grounded and capable. Her husband would probably fail miserably without her.
