Admitteedly I have not read the book, but....

I have read synopses and summaries, and feel that much was omitted from this dramatization. Wasn't there a bounder called Michaelis with whom Connie was briefly involved? And didn't Mellor's wife Bertha have more of a role? And wasn't Miss Bolton supposed to have a sort of maternal relationship with Clifford?

Yes to all the changes you mentioned, plus quite a few more were made.

Yes, Michaelis was an involvement Connie had. Bertha had a much bigger role. She would not divorce Mellors (who wanted one because he thought she was getting too bossy or something like that) and she is the one who outs the affair between Connie and Mellors. Ivy Bolton was older and Clifford's nurse and they had a weird maternal kind of relationship.

I assume Bertha (who is seen very briefly in this one) and Michaelis were omitted to due to the running time of this one and Ivy Bolton was changed to be younger and more a servant to highlight how the servant class was treated in those days.
