Thoughts at the second episode
Loving Westside, so far! Works as both a period piece, and a fun prequel. The former is practically a given with that house (it's always screamed "key party" to me) and the latter is down to a production that is filled with love for the parent show.
Antonia Prebble is great, as ever. I always liked the glimpses of Rita that we got on OF and I'm glad to see that pay off. David dLt is fun and a lot more likable once he dropped the cartoon laugh. The big standout for me, though, was Esther Stephens. When she made her first appearance, I actually got chills. "Nailed it, utterly" seems such faint praise in this instance.
The action is ramping up, as well. No surprise when you mix a heist with your new Croat neighbors. Fun to see Rita calmly win the day but I did have to feel a bit sorry for little Wolfie. Getting cockblocked by your Mom is never any fun. Still, I am on board and wanting more. I was so stoked by the end of the second episode that it made me a little sad there were so few left.
I am thrilled to have any, though, so I'll take what I can get. And for the record, I think that the last word in the first series is going to be "Sluttypants".
