A note to Zoya

This was one movie I was really looking forward to. And I am disappointed. The story quite got lost in the melee of characters and I just could not root for one single character, empathize with them or identify with them. It is sad because Ranveer who is going to be the next Shah Rukh gave a stunning performance. All other characters merely mouthed the dialogues as they would - that means they acted well - but that is it - acted. Ranveer lived the role. But less of Ranveer now.
While the first half was interesting - slow but interesting, I could have done without Pluto's observation. Why did you do this Zoya? Did you honestly feel that the characters expressions, their dialogues written or the direction could not convey to the viewers what exactly you wanted to be conveyed? Whatever be the reason, Pluto was annoying. Amir mouthing those words seemed as though he was totally bored with the entire exercise. If there had been some humor there, it may have been different.
With regard to the second half, the sudden change in the senior Mehra's attitude and behavior towards the end was welcome yet predictable. But then the long and idiotic climax where Ranveer had to swim and his other well-wishers joining him in his attempt to find his love was seriously irritating. A family drama ending up as an action thriller?! And while everyone watching will know that good wins over evil! I had to grit my teeth for that long and boring sequence to get over! You could have done loads better with the ensemble of superb actors.

Ranveer is EXCELLENT in the film. I LOVE my Shahrukh so it's hard for me to say that he's the next SRK, but he gave a STUNNING performance. He NEEDED this movie for his career! The film is disappointing, but I still enjoyed it.

Haribhai=Hero Number 1

This was a great movie. All of them acted well.

Ending could be better. Anil's transition was a bit immature or as you rightly described, predictable.
