a question about farah

farah ali played by anushka sharma is an unbaked character. she is a Muslim but she does all the things forbidden for a Muslim girl. she dances in a cruise club in short skirts, romances a non-Muslim guy. still she is not shown converting to Hinduism after she marries her hindu boyfriend. why?

reply

She's a liberal Muslim. You get a lot of them these days, particularly in Western cultures. I have friends who will happily drink alcohol and mess around with their girlfriends all year. Then as soon as Ramadan comes along they become all religious for a couple of months and then back to the norm. Farah is also like this.

And her main reason for not converting is probably down to the fact that she doesn't even follow her own religion properly. So why should she pretend to follow her boyfriend's religion?

reply

When does she get married?

reply

She's Muslim by birth and name, but she obviously is not a practicing Muslim. She ran away from home because her family was so oppressive. She shouldn't live her life as she chooses simply because she was born into a conservative religion?

reply

Dil Dhadakne Do's theme is choosing your own path. Therefore it should not seem abnormal for Farah to have broken away from the repressive nature of Islam, especially for women, in order to make her own way.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
