there are a few amazing love scenes in this with him and I was blown away... I was lucky enough to see this at the Toronto Internation Film Fest last September and the whole cast was there to premiere it along with the director... it was an honor to be there and the highlight was the question and answer portion following the movie.
Just saw it. Norman was the draw but Diane made it for me. Loved the story. See it if you are a woman who loves Reedus and Thelma & Louise. Simplistic review but it works.
If I had seen this at TIFF and was able to take part in the interactive session with the cast and director, that environment alone kicks the film up several notches.
But on its own, just watching the DVD or seeing it in the theatre, it's fairly weak. I enjoy both leads, and their acting, just not in this. The story didn't have much to offer and the acting was just okay, I didn't feel moved by either portrayal. And I really like Norman.
Its like this article I read in the paper about this guy who served people frozen pizza in a restaurant without telling them it was frozen pizza and when he queried how they liked it, they all raved. It was the setting and service that made all the difference. I've had Dr. Oetker's Ristorante's frozen pizza, and it is pretty good for frozen, but not that good.
So, I guess I'm saying this movie is like decent frozen pizza, it was okay. But if you dress it up and put the pizza in a restaurant (or the movie, cast and directors at TIFF) it becomes a much more significant and enjoyable event.
The movie was a little bit slow, but I felt that was part of the overall mood they were trying to create. Here is a young women who basically becomes a drifter without any particular plan. As part of finding herself, they let the plot drift a bit in different directions, but I think it sort of works in this case.
Well I just saw it today and I'm disappointed. NR was sexy but not enough scenes with Sky. Their relationship was not developed enough. Probably because NR didn't have enough time to stay long enough on set.
