They could try adapting Allo Allo next

It would make a marvelous satire of World War 2, as well as being an adaptation of one of Britain's funniest comedies.

Of course, today it could be seen as offensive and insulting to WW2 and the French/Germans, but given that it is rather caricaturish and parodical anyway I doubt those complaints would last long. I myself loved this comedy as a child, and still do, I don't see anything too serious or terrible about it.

That would be great. I love Allo Allo. It was absolutely hilarious, 'Ohhhh Rrrrrrene'. The cast of characters were brilliant. My fave's were Officer Crabtree, Herr Flick, Gruber, Mimi Labonq and Edith. No matter how many times i rewatch this show, it still makes me laugh.

And Brits, Italians and the list goes on.

reply

I may be wrong but I remember reading somewhere that the Germans loved it.

reply

I'm sure they did, they were still in Paris then.

It will be a box office smash all around the world. Everybody wants to see Allo Allo with a weak script and all new actors brought to the big screen.

Damn, that's ambitious.

I can't see Seth Rogen as a Frenchman though.

But it's nice people remember and loved that comedy.

great cast - Zeta Jones in AA too?

reply

a remake would no doubt be as dire as the remake of dad's srmy. Please, leave Allo allo in peace.

reply

'allo 'allo = Best comedy series ever, bar none.

No movie remake could ever top it, no way, no how.
That being said, I'd love see a movie remake of it.

Tesla was robbed!

reply

if it was funny like the series and had a good cast and not famous names then it may work. dads army movie was a disaster so if they did the same to allo allo then it would be suicide

reply

What a lot of people forget is that 'Allo 'Allo was written to take the micky out of a previous series 'Secret Army' which was very dramatic, with the cafe owner and his wife and waitress's which started in 1977 and starred Bernard Hepton as the cafe owner. Gordon Kaye looks very like his character Albert Foiret.

reply

To be fair it did caricature the British as well with the two airmen and the policeman who couldn't speak French properly. I like the repeats of 'Allo Allo' on the Yesterday channel 19.
