Better film than the 1971 big screen version?

I am going out on a limb, but I think the 2016 movie has more jokes, is livelier, and moves along at a fast pace compared to the agonisingly slow 1971 spin off.

I think it is a worthy addition to the canon of TV, film, radio, stage show, musical, childrens annual, US version pilot [The Rear Guard], spin off radio shows [Its sticks out half a mile]......

i thought it was absoloutely dreadful. The 1971 version looks like the greatest comedy every made by comparison.

reply

Certainly not that bad. And, of course, the 1971 film wasn't great either.

reply

i thought the new one was abysmal. the first film was not very good compared to he TV series, but it was far better than this.

reply

The new one was generally disappointing. Toby Jones, Michael Gambon and some of the other cast were very good though. It was not wholly without merit.

Only in the way that a heavy cold is slightly better than the flu.
