reply

In the book they didn't marry, she finally got tired of his crap and left for New York for good

reply

The movie screwed it up.

The real Bart Winslow would NEVER have married that sinning little whore. She's so beneath his class that it's appalling.

reply

I wanted to bitchslap that ungrateful *beep* He talks about sin and then he slept with his brother's wife who was pregnant with twins (such an airhead by the way) and then develops feelings for his adopted sister who he tried to drown as a child. YOU'RE ONE TO TALK!!

reply

You have to understand Bart's motives; he didn't sleep with Jory's wife out of lust/sexual desire for her at all. That was a calculated move to hurt his brother, who he was in desperate competition with, and very jealous of, because Cathy seemed to love Jory the best. And he didn't fall in love with Cindy until the very end. He actually despised her, and tried to get rid of her. The film ends with the resolution of Bart finally falling in love with somebody, and it happened to be Cindy. And the attempted drowning happened when he was a little boy. Bart wasn't in a relationship with anybody, but Melodie was a married, pregnant woman. That makes her actions SO much more disgusting..

Oh, well I just blew up for no reason. Thanks for clearing that up for me dude

reply

Congratulations, he just mansplained you.

It has been a while since I read the books, however, from my recollection they did NOT get married. However, they did make amends and Bart became more "normal".

reply

Yeah, I found the fact that she was in love with him strange. Not because they were adopted brother and sister, but because he treated her so horribly.

reply

That was so screwed up!!

reply

Finally, someone on the board that thinks logically.

Of course she wouldn't marry him, neither would she sleep with him. She hated him in the book and did everything she could to piss him off.

Doesn't sound like a match made in either heaven or hell, really.

Bart married Cindy (his adopted sister??) They didn't get married in the book?!! I hate when they go totally off the books, like in the original movie with Kristy Swanson as 'Cathy' - they killed Corrine! Stupid.
