The Film Focuses On Murder...

but what about all the other crimes? Would murder really be the focus or would it be theft? If all crime was legal for 12 hours I'm betting people would focus more on stealing than they would on killing.

reply

I would think looting would be the most popular.

If they ever make a film of the first ever purge, it would be fun to see how it could play out putting different purge 'ideals' together. Perhaps with subsequent purges murder became the most popular pastime.

If all crime is legal for 12 hours, then hackers would just steal everyone's money electronically. No need to put your life in danger for hundreds or thousands of dollars looting, just steal millions while hiding out at home.

Terrorists would just bomb all major roads, highways, airports, buildings, etc. It wouldn't be terrorism if done on Purge Night.

reply

This is stupid. They would just turn off the servers for 12 hours so no hacker could ever get in. And lol terrorists wouldnt even make it to the airport, they would likely themselves be target of citizen mobs first.

Right before Purge Night?

It's a recurrent theme in the movie that the Purge is an all assault on poor people, directly by murder on the streets (or right in their living rooms by government death squads) or indirectly by being priced out of insurance coverage and thus losing their businesses.

The assault is finally (and ultimately) economical.

That's what I was thinking too. If ALL crimes are legal for the Purge, then money laundering, theft of financial assets, and other crimes would be perpetrated on a grand scale, not to mention destruction of property.
