So season 4 is confirmed dead?

is this true?

reply

It won't be confirmed dead until David Lynch is dead. But it's pretty unrealistic: Already a number of characters have passed away, and the rest are getting on in years. I doubt the series will survive a delay more than 5-10 years.

reply

Hopefully it is dead.

reply

Amen.

They already ruined what could've been a great opportunity with the return, no need to butcher it further.

reply

A good number of the characters are in their 40's, 50's and 60's. Not geezers yet.

reply

60s is easily in geezer territory, and so can 50s be.
Kyle was a young man in the original series. Today he is 60.
Michael Ontkean seems to have lost interest in the series. And anyway, he is 73.
Mädchen Amick and Lara Flynn Boyle will both be 50 next year. Sure, that's not too old, but they can't simply reprise their roles as young girls.
Sherilyn Fenn is 54.
Dana Ashbrook and James Marshall are both 52.
Richard Beymer is 82.
Everett McGill: 74.

There are no spring chickens left. The rest are middle aged at youngest, and geriatric at oldest. And we have already lost several key characters to old age, and others still to other reasons. So I stand by what I said: the cast is indeed getting on in years.

reply

There can be new cast members mixed in with the older folk. Other shows have done it, so I don't know why Twin Peaks can't.

reply

Lynch should let Frost take it over then. Someone else could do a good job also. Lynch can be so problematic. Just get on with it and let the story continue with or without Lynch. So ridiculous.

reply

oh hell no. did you see the 2nd half of season 2. it was SHAIT. and it was all frost.

reply

No, it wasn't Frost at all. Both Lynch and Frost weren't involved much. There were a few bad episodes after Leland died, but most of season 2 was good. Frost really was more of an influence on the show than most realize. Lynch could never have written any of the original seasons without Frost. Frost is more grounded than Lynch.

reply

I found most of season 2 after episode 9 to be pretty boring filler. Obviously the finale was great, iconic even, but season 2 would've been so much better edited down to about 12 episodes.

reply

True, there were lots of bad things about season 2, but most of the first half was pretty good, then it turned bad, but once Windom Earle came in the picture, I thought the show found its legs once more. Season 3 The Return was very mixed also. Lots of greatness, but also a lot of filler that went nowhere. I loved how the season ended though and still hope for more to come.

reply

Same here. I wonder if the end of season 3 was envisioned all along (from season 1) or they just made it up as they went.

Modica, I’m proud to see you’re still leading the charge! I agree with everything you say. My boyfriend recently got me the Twin Peaks gold box edition so I’ve been rewatching the first 2 seasons. I still love them, so fun to watch again. The boyfriend has never seen Twin Peaks but he digs it too (he passed the test, he’s a keeper). Ordered FWWM and after that I’ll rewatch the 3rd season. I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it a little more now that my expectations aren’t sky high. I’ll let you know how it goes. Peace friend ✌🏻

reply

Nice to see you froggy. I tried to rewatch the 3rd season, but I didn't get past episode 2. I will try again sometime in the future though. Talk to you soon.

reply

Disagree, I thought Windom Earle was a horrible villain.

reply

Agreed. I could never get into his arc.

reply

Different strokes I guess.

reply

So far as I know, neither Lynch nor Showtime have ruled out a fourth season.

Until Lunch flat out says no more, the door is still open.
