If there is a season 4...

I think most of us prefer the original twin peaks soundtrack to the random bands of season 3, (although there were some good tunes on s3 too).

If you had to pick a band or solo artist to make the soundtrack for season 4, who do you think would be a good match?

reply

London Grammar.
Dead Can Dance.

reply

Good call on dead can dance! I'll have to look into London grammar, not familiar.

reply

Holy cow keybored, that chick can wail!! Incredible voice. Are you sure she doesn't already live in twin peaks?

reply

Yeah her voice is truly amazing.

I heard them in various places while on a trip to UK and kept asking around if anyone knew who they were and eventually someone said they thought it was London Grammar. Been a fan ever since.

reply

I'm in for Dead Can Dance.

reply

One of the very last ones to appear. Dunno the name of the band, but it was a guy playing the guitar with a lot of Fuzz and singing as though he was singing through a megaphone [IIRC it was on the episode of the chick who crawled on the floor and started screaming] Really dig that sort of industrial/desert rock/psychedelic shoegaze stuff... though I pretty much detest NIN.

reply

I think maybe you're talking about the veils? Id have to review the episode to be sure, but if so, I completely agree. The veils song fit like a glove, and chromatics seemed natural to twin peaks as well.

reply

Chromatics reminded me of Julie Cruise's earlier contributions to TP.

reply

Yup, me too. I've been a fan of theirs for awhile. They're pretty talented imo, and have some really good songs.

reply

I'm sure they would be a lot more grateful for their appearance in TPTR than Julie Cruise was also.

reply

reply

Wtf?! What a bitch. I hate to state the obvious, but NO one would even know who she was if it weren't for twin peaks. I have always enjoyed her music. I have at least 2 of her solo cds. What a freaking, ungrateful traitor! Suck a dick julee cruise!

reply

That's pretty much the thoughts of everyone after reading what she said. So ungrateful.

There were many original cast members that didn't get much of a starring role and some were not even invited to be in season 3.

She's pretty much guaranteed that she won't be in season 4 if there is one.

reply

keybored, I heard the man from another place wasn't in s3 because he demanded too much money... any truth to that? I know im just a fan, but it seems to me they should wanna jump at the opportunity of being in such a timeless cult classic. Fools I tell you!

reply

No, that wasn't the reason he wasn't in TPTR.

He turned into a raving lunatic who publicly accused David Lynch of raping his own daughter, then making the show TP about it and forcing her to write The Secret Diary Of Laura Palmer (to which she has publicly replied http://www.tv3.ie/xpose/article/entertainment-news/213252/Jennifer-Lynch-defends-her-dad-after-Twin-Peaks-stars-Facebook-rant-goes-public) and also of being behind the death of Jack Nance.

reply

Yep.

reply

Whoa! Batshit little dude!

reply

Yes, the Veils. Just heard them on Youtube now. Pretty good band. The Chromatics are also pretty Twin Peeky.

reply

At first I considered ween, but i think the crazy combination of David lynch and ween would be so otherworldly that people's heads would explode like Spooners did.
I also thought if tricky and portishead collaborated, they could come up with some cool, twin peaksy stuff.

reply

Portished would be grand. They would meld pretty well on the show. TomandAndy and King Acid also comes to mind.

reply

Don't know either of them, but will give a listen. I know you said you aren't into nin much, I haven't really been into them since I was 13 lol. They have some good songs but, yeah. You probably already know pigface, but if not, check um out, I think you'd like.

reply

Portishead came to me as well. The Bird And The Bee could work well also, Inara George has such a sublime angelic voice, and Kurstin an impeccable ear. Others that could do TP some due justice (just picking names by flipping through my music alphabetically), Atlas Sound, Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Broadcast (R.I.P. Trish), Charlotte Gainsbourg (backed by Air), Deerhunter, The Luyas, Pram...

reply

Uhoh! More homework lol

reply

Any other media types you’d like homework for? I could recommend you books all day, but I do possess some mercy... ;)

reply

Oh shit....don't even get me started on books! I'll let you know when im ready. Im reading a calamity Jane biography right now.

reply

I’m reading a terrific book right now called, The Vital Question, by Nick Lane. It’s commanding my full attention and exciting my imagination like select others have done. Pop science is my thing (evolutionary biology, cosmology, and neuroscience, primarily). Like most others, I reckon, I want to know what it’s all about, despite knowing we’ll never really know. That’s beside the point, it’s the pursuit that’s thrilling to me. Unlike, ahem, too many others, I don’t find, erm, that other explanation terribly satisfactory, if you get my drift...

reply

yeah, I already knew that based on a few comments you made on here before...
Do you enjoy fiction novels as well? Im all over the place when it comes to reading material. I hope I don't sound ignorant, but what exactly are "pop science" books?

reply

Popular science, science written for the layman. With some exceptions, I’ve never been terribly drawn to novels. Exceptions would include works by Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide series), Kurt Vonnegut, and maybe a few others.

reply

FYI, my user name "Kazak" is a semi-recurring (canine) character in Kurt Vonnegut's novels.

reply

I was curious about that. Kazak sounds a bit hippie to me, thought you might've been a treehugger;) I read "slaughterhouse 5" many, many moons ago but I don't at all remember it.

reply

I mean, do you get into Hemingway, or anything like that? Or just strictly this science- pop stuff?

reply

I have read some Hemingway. Enjoyed For Whom The Bell Tolls, among others, but wouldn’t call it a favorite. Read lots of classics in school, just not what I tend to choose on my own. The hippie era was a bit before my time. I’m a fairly typical gen-Xer.

reply

I was kidding about the tree huggers thing. I didn't really think that.

reply

The classics are where I lack. I have a huge list of never read classics, there are just so many interesting books!

reply

Actually read a lot of Ayn Rand, if you can believe that, though it doesn’t reflect my politics by any means. Some Arthur C. Clarke, Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Robert Heinlein, William Burroughs, etc. I’ve read some things.

reply

Burroughs, Thompson, Tom robins...im a sucker for revolutionary anarchists. I come from a long line of hippie blood, I can't help it.

reply

If you like Robins, you owe it to yourself to read up on some Robert Anton Wilson. He's one of Robins' personal faves. There's an interesting documentary you can watch for free on YouTube about R.A.W. called Maybe Logic. Interesting guy. Apologies if you're already familiar.

reply

Nope, not familiar. Will read first then watch doc. A lot of times I find my favorite authors are not very likable people.

reply

Do as you please, but in this particular case you'll probably get more out his writings if you know a little bit about the person first. He's (was, dead now) utterly likable. His semi-fictional writings are a little bit out there though, and at first glance, especially if you didn't know, erm, how he is (for lack of a better phrasing), might be considered somewhat conspiratorial. It's utterly tongue in cheek though, which goes right over most folks heads. In this case, I'd recommend watching the doc first.

reply

Ok then, I shall take your advice. I need to make a list man lol

reply

Also, just thought of this, but vapors of morphine (remaining members of morphine) would be so dope! (pun unintended)

reply

Morphine is pretty dope, I agree.

RIP Mark

No one knows who he is, but Daniel Johnston would be a good fit. Also, if they were still together, I would like to see Sonic Youth at the Roadhouse. They would tear those red curtains to shreds.

reply

Lol yeah I think me and you talked about sonic youth playing up in the roadhouse. They would grab James' dumb guitar and smash it over his dumb head!

Daniel Johnson I know not.

reply

Daniel Johnston kind of sounds like David Lynch singing. You should Google him.

reply

I shall.

reply

Yo Modica, I checked out this fella and i liked him. Very mellow, would make for great, stony roadtrip music. Good lookin out! Now, im gonna need you to check out Dan reeder, unless you already are aware. I know you'll enjoy him too.

reply

Glad you liked Daniel Johnston. I will check out Dan Reeder.

reply

Dan Reeder is my new favorite. I forgot to tell you that froggy. I listen to him a lot since you told me about him.

reply

Awesome, glad you enjoy him too, he is kind of amazing. Do you drink beers to save the whales and dolphins? 🍻

reply

Cute songs. He really is amazing.

reply

I prefer the original soundtrack, but I wouldn't care what they play as long as we get a season four, or a movie.

😎

"I Am the FBI."

reply

I liked Trouble, with Dean Hurley and Lynch's son Riley, and actually thought they had the most Twin Peaks appropriate music of all the bands. But the background score should primarily come from Angelo Badalamenti.
