I heard them in various places while on a trip to UK and kept asking around if anyone knew who they were and eventually someone said they thought it was London Grammar. Been a fan ever since.
One of the very last ones to appear. Dunno the name of the band, but it was a guy playing the guitar with a lot of Fuzz and singing as though he was singing through a megaphone [IIRC it was on the episode of the chick who crawled on the floor and started screaming] Really dig that sort of industrial/desert rock/psychedelic shoegaze stuff... though I pretty much detest NIN.
I think maybe you're talking about the veils? Id have to review the episode to be sure, but if so, I completely agree. The veils song fit like a glove, and chromatics seemed natural to twin peaks as well.
Wtf?! What a bitch. I hate to state the obvious, but NO one would even know who she was if it weren't for twin peaks. I have always enjoyed her music. I have at least 2 of her solo cds. What a freaking, ungrateful traitor! Suck a dick julee cruise!
keybored, I heard the man from another place wasn't in s3 because he demanded too much money... any truth to that? I know im just a fan, but it seems to me they should wanna jump at the opportunity of being in such a timeless cult classic. Fools I tell you!
At first I considered ween, but i think the crazy combination of David lynch and ween would be so otherworldly that people's heads would explode like Spooners did.
I also thought if tricky and portishead collaborated, they could come up with some cool, twin peaksy stuff.
Don't know either of them, but will give a listen. I know you said you aren't into nin much, I haven't really been into them since I was 13 lol. They have some good songs but, yeah. You probably already know pigface, but if not, check um out, I think you'd like.
Portishead came to me as well. The Bird And The Bee could work well also, Inara George has such a sublime angelic voice, and Kurstin an impeccable ear. Others that could do TP some due justice (just picking names by flipping through my music alphabetically), Atlas Sound, Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Broadcast (R.I.P. Trish), Charlotte Gainsbourg (backed by Air), Deerhunter, The Luyas, Pram...
I’m reading a terrific book right now called, The Vital Question, by Nick Lane. It’s commanding my full attention and exciting my imagination like select others have done. Pop science is my thing (evolutionary biology, cosmology, and neuroscience, primarily). Like most others, I reckon, I want to know what it’s all about, despite knowing we’ll never really know. That’s beside the point, it’s the pursuit that’s thrilling to me. Unlike, ahem, too many others, I don’t find, erm, that other explanation terribly satisfactory, if you get my drift...
yeah, I already knew that based on a few comments you made on here before...
Do you enjoy fiction novels as well? Im all over the place when it comes to reading material. I hope I don't sound ignorant, but what exactly are "pop science" books?
Popular science, science written for the layman. With some exceptions, I’ve never been terribly drawn to novels. Exceptions would include works by Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker’s Guide series), Kurt Vonnegut, and maybe a few others.
I was curious about that. Kazak sounds a bit hippie to me, thought you might've been a treehugger;) I read "slaughterhouse 5" many, many moons ago but I don't at all remember it.
I have read some Hemingway. Enjoyed For Whom The Bell Tolls, among others, but wouldn’t call it a favorite. Read lots of classics in school, just not what I tend to choose on my own. The hippie era was a bit before my time. I’m a fairly typical gen-Xer.
Actually read a lot of Ayn Rand, if you can believe that, though it doesn’t reflect my politics by any means. Some Arthur C. Clarke, Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, Robert Heinlein, William Burroughs, etc. I’ve read some things.
If you like Robins, you owe it to yourself to read up on some Robert Anton Wilson. He's one of Robins' personal faves. There's an interesting documentary you can watch for free on YouTube about R.A.W. called Maybe Logic. Interesting guy. Apologies if you're already familiar.
Do as you please, but in this particular case you'll probably get more out his writings if you know a little bit about the person first. He's (was, dead now) utterly likable. His semi-fictional writings are a little bit out there though, and at first glance, especially if you didn't know, erm, how he is (for lack of a better phrasing), might be considered somewhat conspiratorial. It's utterly tongue in cheek though, which goes right over most folks heads. In this case, I'd recommend watching the doc first.
No one knows who he is, but Daniel Johnston would be a good fit. Also, if they were still together, I would like to see Sonic Youth at the Roadhouse. They would tear those red curtains to shreds.
Yo Modica, I checked out this fella and i liked him. Very mellow, would make for great, stony roadtrip music. Good lookin out! Now, im gonna need you to check out Dan reeder, unless you already are aware. I know you'll enjoy him too.
I liked Trouble, with Dean Hurley and Lynch's son Riley, and actually thought they had the most Twin Peaks appropriate music of all the bands. But the background score should primarily come from Angelo Badalamenti.
